Hi all.. first time posting here, I've got a 5spd 2004 xB that's got the same 1.5L engine as the Yaris and finally I'm looking into bumping up the performance a notch. I live in a mountainous area so any added power in 2nd gear would really be appreciated.

CAI , 1ZZ-FE Throttle Body swap, Header, Exhaust... which one should I start first?

Any combos of parts that work particularly well together?

It's a newbie question for sure, but I'd hope those of you who has gone down the performance route and tried different product combo can recommend your preference, and of couse any personal nuggets of wisdom.

Thanks in advance

Idk... but I would start with the cold air intake first.... that's the most easy way to start...... the just start heading towards the back..... u want to get the headers & performance exhaust after let the car breathe ...... u don't want pop in the 1zz & not have anything to really let that air out... u need good back pessure on your car if u want it to perform...... u want the air to get out as fast as possible. Usually ppl throw the 1zz when they have most of there mods already & want more power.... Idk that's my opinion, ppl can beg to differ.... everyone works on there cars different. Happy Modding

save your money....rear sway, springs, brakes, shift kit and lastly and most important tires and wheels.... but you want more... build one... 2zr-fe 1.8l for $600 port+polish, light flywheel and turbo with LSD and proper bracing IMO... or else if it is just joy of moding... then choose what you like but understand what each mod does.

mine's stock except for a k&n filter and a trd quickshifter. plenty quick on city streets and handles well. trying to preserve my gas mileage.

A CAI gives you the best bang for the buck. Well, for our gen motor it is anyway. (cable throttle)

That also depends on which one you pick up on how much you will notice for a difference.

For me I justput in my Tein springs and i love them. the car is so much quicker around the turns and i just feel more in control. plus in in 2nd gear when I turn... Bu if you want engine im thinking a CAI would work the best... thats my 2 cents!! Have fun

u need good back pessure on your car if u want it to perform

NO! back pressure of any form is bad.

the stock xB exhaust is 1 5/8" in diameter, its retarded small for performance use. I had made my own full 2" mandrel-bent exhaust on my '06 xB i had & it really liked it.

Get an intake, header (i have a JDM header i'm trying to get rid of) & a real full exhaust with a true high flow metallic core catalytic converter, axle-back exhaust only free up 1-2whp, so don't waste your time

thats enough to make a noticeable difference that you will feel & enjoy
