Hey guys, don't mind my username as I'm not trying to bash on the Toyota's. Love the VVTI technology. But I also own a Honda and am a avid Honda forum member. I couldn't think of a username for this forum lol. Excellent site!

Anyway, I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for as this tire size is not a very common size with the Yaris.

I picked up some Enkei EVO5 17x7 +42 offset 4x100 wheels today for my wife's 07 Toyota Yaris. She is currently on stock OEM suspension. Eventually I plan on replacing these tires when I pick up some coilovers for her car. But for now I plan on running these tires.

I know that 205 40 R17 are the way to go when you want to slam your car. But I happen to have almost brand new 215 50 R17 tires laying in my garage. I had these tires mounted today on the Enkei EVO5 17x7 with a +42 offset. These are only temporary tires for now to fill the ugly wheel gap until we get some low profile 205 40 R17 and coilovers down the road. BUT until then, I want to use these for now as I got them for free and they were laying in my garage under a tarp.

They are pretty meaty and I'm wondering if I'm going to run into any rubbing on stock suspension. I know the speedometer will be a little off but will she be ok? I plan on putting these on this Tuesday. This is her DD, and commutes to work on the freeway (30 miles round trip). Input would be greatly appreciated! I already had these mounted. She's going to flip if these wont work...

205/50/17's are tall, but work okay on the Yaris with stock suspension.

Don't know about 215/50/17's.

How big of a difference would you say a 205 vs 215 is? And when you say they work "okay", could you elaborate? I would really appreciate it!

I recall that a couple of Yarisworld members had 205/50/17's on stock suspension and don't remember them reporting issues. I've also seen Vitz and Beltas in Japan running 205/50/17's on stock suspension.

205 vs 215 size should be very miniscule correct? Just a bit wider. So in your honest opinion (and anyone else here) think I'll be fine running the 215/50/17's for a DD? I'm just afraid of brake failure (read that online somewhere) or premature transmission/engine wear.

Bump. Anyone else have anything to add?

The 215's will be about 3/8 inch taller - nothing to worry about.

What he said, until you lower it you will be fine.
