Is this a terrifically good sign? How soon does your first bar click off?
And I went with Blazing Blue...
:frown:
I'm having regrets. I should have @#$%ing gone with Meteorite!
But the blue pulled me from the silver...
ARGH.
My feelings on Blazing Blue:

my first bar goes around 75 miles though I stop when the gas pump clicks once. not sure if that matters or not.

The fuel sender stops registering after 11 gallons, so if the filler pipe was fully loaded, 109 is normal, as that can be 109 miles on over 3 gallons of gas. Here's an analysis I did a while back on the fuel sender response:

Look at the big picture: if you're odo shows about 400 miles at your next fill-up, then your'e fine.
Mine reads about 420 on it's final gallon.

The second bar disappeared @ 154 miles...
CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT MY FIRST TANK BRINGS.
Then I can see when the first bar disappears on my second tank.

90 kms winter 110 summer , Eco driving mode 126 kms best hwy trip 140 kms
I burned my fist tank (didn't count it) since it was filled at the dealership. my next two yielded me 41.5MPG each.
my dad has a 2006 corolla and he regularly tops 40mpg though he does a lot of highway driving.
toyotas do great with mileage. I can't say for the trucks or the bigger cars but the smaller cars usually do really well.

As long as you drive conservatively, keep tires inflated to proper level, and are the only passenger in car, the Yaris should give you 35+ easily. I have a 07, Sedan, auto. Not much pick up speed but love the MPG.

My first bar always takes forever to drop, coming in at around 100 each time. But then there's a huge dive until about halfway or so that goes by really quickly. I commute about 40 miles per day taking no special steps besides not driving like a maniac ( I have inflated tires to 42 psi all around) and I have averaged 38 mpg on my last six tanks. There is a lot of mileage to be had on this car but as for the fuel gauge accuracy it's only really good for knowing when to fill up.

Without running the tank down to fumes you should be able to safely reach 400 miles per tank..

PLEASE READ THIS....YARIS inTO PRIUS SECRETS...ROAD WISDOM..
thr first bar is about 2.4 gallons. most blogs complain about the gauge is not " EVEN" when using fuel. about38-40 mpg sounds about right. My 2010 auto 4 speed gets that but heres how you might get more  .... DONT OVER FILL STOP AT FIRST SHUT OFF PULL BACK SLIGHTLY TO LET VAPOR ESCAPE AND FILL TO NEXT SHUT OFF OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE GASKETS AND NECK LINER ON THE TANK......ITS FULL>>>>DONT DAMAGE YOUR YARIS....IT"LL COST YOU BIG-TIME....
1. make sure air and oil filters are clean if not take to gas station and blow out air with air hose if still gray or brown...replace.
2. dino oil is fine check with trusted mechanic about swich to synthetic may only get 2-3 more per gallon .Weigh that with cost to see if thats good increse . or stick with Dino oil changes...do them like the manual says.
3. I dont over inflate my tires ever. mine are 195-15 size and the sidewall says 52 max. psi. Im at 37-38 psi ride is comfy. you can inflate to reduce road friction but tires will wear faster so keep them within the specs.. ...guess which is more expensive tires later, or gas right now.... ( answer...tires and rubber cost)
4. use what the epa calls "TOP TIER" gasoline. I get 3-5 miles a gallon better with chevron which has the techro "lean" additive now ...and union 76 is good for small engines too. they have less fuel fillers and more additives that make the engine run and stay cleaner....remember, its the long haul your engine is looking for...
FINALY... DONT BE A DRAG  .... remove un-needed junk from the trunk. keep the spare if you must but with an auto club card or fix a flat can you might do better on milage. keep short errands togther to save gas.
LOOK AT YOU TUBE for eathier hypermiling tips or prius drive techniques ( which is why prius goes so far on gas... the dashboard is training the driver to "hypermile" and gives a video game to play for about 24K.
The Yaris 1.5L engine is the same type as the prius c and the drag weight and other specs are pretty close to your yaris...the main diffrence beside low resistance tires and a little trimer body ... IS YOU AND HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR YARIS INTO A PRIUS, PRESTO... WITH KNOWLAGE...NOT TECHNO TRICKS. BE PROUD OF YOUR YARIS....ITS THE SECRET LOVE CHILD BETWEEN A CAMRY AND A PRIUS. ITS STRONG like dad AND SIPS GAS LIKE MOM....ENJOY

it's not exactly the same motor....
(from wikipedia 1nz-fxe)
The 1NZ-FXE is the earliest 1.5 L (1497 cc) version built in Japan. Bore is 75 mm and stroke is 84.7 mm. It features forged steel connecting rods and an aluminum intake manifold. The engine has a high physical compression ratio of 13.0:1, but the closing of the inlet valve is delayed. The net result is that the engine has a greater effective expansion than compression—making it simulated Atkinson cycle, rather than the conventional Otto cycle.
The reduction in cylinder charge means reduced torque and power output, but efficiency is increased. This combination makes the 1NZ-FXE suitable for use with the Hybrid Synergy Drive, where peak torque and power are of less importance. Output is 57 kW (76 hp) at 5000 rpm with 115 Nm (85 lb·ft) of torque at 4000 rpm.
and the 1nz-fe....
The 1NZ-FE is a 1.5 L (1497 cc) conventional Otto cycle variant of the 1NZ-FXE. It has the same bore and stroke, but the compression ratio is lowered to 10.5:1, and it features VVT-i. Output is 80 kW (107 hp) at 6000 rpm with 141 Nm (103 lb·ft) of torque at 4200 rpm.
First bar usually lasts me 50-60 miles and I get around 33MPG regularly but I average 75MPH on the highway which isn't helping... 08 sedan 34k miles
on the other hand my '85 toyota pickup with the 22re is getting near 200miles on half a tank lol

In winter the first bar goes ~60 miles. 30-32 mpg
In summer the first bar goes ~71 miles. 32-35 mpg
This is driving 6.5 miles to work and 6.5 miles back.
On my trip to AK last summer driving in Canada (where i think they dont have ethanol) I was going 65 mph for long periods and getting 40-42 mpg. The first bar would drop at like 80 miles and the second at like 130.
