I guess that depends on if you have a junkyard close by or not. I'd look there first.

There's nothing that I want.
Yaris Sedan 2007-2008 recently were imported into Russia from the USA and Canada.

a new one is probably only found at the dealership. and your looking at a couple thousand for that.

but for a used one, you are taking a gamble if you havent seen the trans in the car and running prior to purchase. Used transmissions (auto) i see run from 200-1000 dollars depending on the seller, buyer and location

Can I ask how much was saved? How much did you find a (used?) Auto Trans for? I am just curious, and kudos for hooking up this guy! :respekt:

The transmission was off of a 2008 that only had 3,800 miles on it before the owner decided to try to pass a trailer truck by going under it. The car only had damage from the top edge of the hood and up, so the drivetrain was perfect. I have actually purchased a lot of parts off of the car, and even saw it running before the junkyard pulled the engine and tranny to put them on the shelf.

The junkyard charged me $600 + sales tax, so I loaded it into my Xterra for $636. You can often pick them up for far less on eBay (as cheap as $250), but not with such low miles.

I was originally going to ship it via UPS Freight and even spoke to UPS to get a quote and verify some things regarding the create. UPS quoted me a little over $500 to ship it. I had it crated and was ready to bring it to the UPS Freight depot and called them one more time to verify which airport in Moscow Mikhail would need to pick it up from. At that time UPS told me that due to Russian customs issues, they can not ship a freight item to an individual. It would have to go to a business and that business would have to do tons of paperwork to get it out of customs.

So, thinking that we were dead in the water, I called USPS for the heck of it to see if I disassembled it into 70 lb parcels (the max weight for USPS) if they would ship it. The answer was not just "Yes", but that USPS has less issues delivering to individuals in Russia than they do to people in Italy or Spain.

So, out of the crate it came. I then proceeded to disassemble it, literally on a freight scale, working towards getting the main body of the transmission to be less than 65 lbs, so that it plus packaging would equal less than 70 lbs.

I ended up with three boxes.

Box 1 of 3 - 66 lbs.
1. Toyota Yaris U340 Transmission Case

Box 2 of 3 - 36 lbs.
1. Differential
2. Oil Pump
3. Input Shaft/Forward Clutch Hub Assy.
4. Oil Strainer Assy. w/screws
5. AT Oil Pan Assy. w/screws
6. Manual Detent Spring Assy. w/screws
7. Transmission Wire
8. Speedometer Sensor
9. Accumulator Pistons x3
10. Check Ball Assy.
11. Gaskets x4
12. Bell Housing Bolts x11
13. Oil Pump Bolts x7

Box 3 of 3 - 52 lbs.
1. Bell Housing
2. Torque Converter
3. Valve Body

I took pictures of every step of the disassembly process and provided Mikhail with the attached detailed document on how to reassemble it. I learned a lot during the process and now am completely ready to install a limited slip differential in Crashy's automatic transmission.

Guys: Tell me about the oil cooler radiator for automatic transmissions.
If it exists, and how it can be cleaned from the inside?

bronsin
07-21-2011, 07:20 AM
Usually its built into the radiator, the thing that coolant from the engine (also) flows through. Look for two lines going fom the trans into the radiator, usually on the lower part of it.

Are you worried about metal debris being inside, maybe from your lunched transmission?

On AT Yaris the bottom part of the radiator is an oil cooler. There are two hoses that go from the transmission to it. The clean it you flush it with fresh transmission fluid.

The ATF fluid is expensive, but I would not want to risk residue from other fluids. To save money I would only use a cheaper, but similar ATF fluid for flushing it.

According to Toyota ATF WS is unique, but for flushing you could use a Dexron III or Dexron IV ATF, and if a few drops of residue remained it wouldn't be a problem.

If you're going to wash it with gasoline, make sure you also run some fresh ATF through it(and discard it) before the final fill up.

It should be between the bottom two marks when cold and between the top two marks when hot.

Found on Russian site http://www.akpp-otvet.narod.ru/information about the failure of automatic transmission.
Of these reasons, this sporty ride. Hence the question: how much you squeezed out of your Yaris with an automatic transmission, and what kind of mileage Yaris?
My transmission broke after a speed of 100 miles per hour

In the site menu, select the brand of your machine and see what questions were from other users in the repair of automatic transmission or automatic transmission defect is suspected.

Repair or replace your automatic transmission?
Auto Repair is always bad news, because it involves making some important decisions:

Or are you spending money to repair the automatic transmission? Or be smarter and get rid of an old car and buy another car with automatic transmission or automatic transmission to make repairs?
Automatic transmission repair? Or replaced by a new automatic transmission, automatic transmission, or will that is the question? Which of these options is best?

If your car is younger than 10 years, and you really like it, or you can not afford to buy another car, the best thing is probably repair and restoration of the automatic transmission engine. Cars depreciate quickly, even if they did not travel much. The cost of cars with automatic transmission can be so low that investing money in the car is not feasible from an economic point of view.

Therefore, if your car with automatic transmission costs less than $ 1,000 must be long and
think hard before you invest your money for repairs.
On the other hand, if your car is older than 10 years, and he will not roads, or are you looking for a good
an excuse to buy another car with automatic transmission and do not put penny in it. Forget about automatic transmission repair;.

First define what a bad car with automatic transmission.
If your car with automatic transmission was a lot of miles on it (at 150,000 and more miles) and it works poorly, noisy repair will be expensive. Automatic recovery with high mileage engines often require a large number of parts.

Just ask and find

Because of the difficulties and automatic transmission repair needed to restore many automatic transmission repair shop and the dealer recommended replacing the old to the new automatic transmission or a boo. New automatic transmission that are appropriate to your machine can be installed, but it will automatic transmission as a pig in a poke, as luck would run this automatic transmission or automatic transmission net.Bu bad so often that it does not fit your car because you will not find automatic transmission, and simultaneously a kind is on your mashine.U automatic transmission may be different rates of transmission, different ecu for the automatic transmission.

Most of the trouble with the automatic transmission starts from overheating. Under load such as towing a heavy trailer, slip in sugroboh, dirt, etc,, sporty ride automatic transmission. In case of overheating automatic transmission fluid ATF loses its lubricating qualities. Subjected to heat the rubber seals and gaskets inside the automatic transmission is leaking.

Nonetheless, overheating is not the only reason - sometimes automatic transmission break and require repair due to lack of maintenance or after having been repaired inexperienced technician.

Other causes of breakage automatic transmission: dynamic driving on automatic transmission, too low or too high a level of fluid in the automatic transmission fluid or the wrong ATF in automatic transmission - a man I know said transmission fluid in automatic transmission ... dogadates what happened? - Automatic transmission died after 40 minutes! Automatic transmission repair all that he has received from it.

You're reading this because you suspect something is wrong with the automatic transmission and automatic transmission repair you face. Often, people, feel they can not be automatic gearbox is serviceable, but not sure. Believe me, much better to deal with the automatic transmission at an early stage than
allow them to grow into a breakdown.

automatic transmission is the most difficult part of the machine

1 Always check the level of ATP

Tremors in the two automatic transmission can talk about the lack of ATP
3 A delay of more than 3 seconds at the appearance of nebolshog shock when switching from g to p says about the lack of ATP and problems in the automatic transmission
4 ATP smell of burning is a problem

When you work on any automatic transmission is its wear. Auto Repair is always a good time, he made kagda
