I have been fiddling with the JDM Automatic A/C system for quite some time now, with the intention of developing a plug and play harness for Steve (echo_hrs), who imported a couple of sets of the required hardware.

To build the PnP harness, I used the female E8 and E9 connectors from a USDM AC ECU, and a male E11 connector from a JDM wiring harness. I also used an ED1 connector and an E4 connector for the fan wiring from a USDM wiring harness. One piece that I missed, when giving Steve the list of JDM parts needed, was the fan speed control assembly from the JDM Auto AC. The USDM AC uses a blower resistor assembly to adjust the fan speed, whereas the JDM Auto AC uses a solid state speed controller, which responds to a pulsed signal from the AC ECU. Since we didn't import that piece, I had to analyze the signal from the JDM AC ECU and create my own solid state speed control to emulate the JDM one.

Here is a video of it in action:

Here is the harness that I created:

It's actually not all that bad. If you look at the photo of the harness, I just added to the 1st post, it really is plug and play. The hardest part is obtaining the JDM (or European) parts.

Can you build it into the tach replacement? LOL

Nice work, what does the JDM parts list look like?

There are a couple of threads on here where I list all of the individual parts, but to actually order all of them the cost is well over $2000. So, the better route is to purchase the following used parts via Yahoo Japan auctions:

1. Main AC box with solenoids

2. AC Amplifier (ECU) - Part number 88650-52381, 88650-52610, or 88650-52590. Ideally with the large connector attached.

3. Auto AC Controls (replaces the USDM AC control panel)

4. JDM blower or at least the speed control module off of the bottom of it. (This one is not critical, since I developed an under $50 solution for it).

To make the plug and play harness:

1. Large connector (E11) for the JDM AC ECU

2. USDM AC ECU to harvest the connectors from.

3. USDM Dash AC harness to harvest the blower and ED1 dash connectors from.
