engine & "slip" light weird

so today i was driving normally like every other day and these 2 dash lights came on for no apparent reason. (check engine and the "slip" *not the traction) i did nothing went about my business they stayed on after 2 stops and starts, then i drove to brooklyn was there for a few hours got back in to leave and they never came back on. any opinions or info ? pretty weird only thing i could think of that might have caused it, i was running the ac before they came on for longer than i usually do (was on the phone with mi in the car while it was running getting something sorted out and ordering the ecometer) but i dont see why that would be a cause

Its just a check engine light. Id get that checked out first.

Sometimes when the check engine light comes on, depending on the code, the VSC or "slip" light will come on. Its a engine fail safe thing.

yeah my buddy said they would have stayed on if the problem was eminent and if not then its intermittent every few cycles itll turn off but store the data so im gonna hook it up to his scan tool he can check the codes ill post here when i do

I'd try to get some soft codes pulled via an OBDII reader or SGII. I'm thinking you have one or two if your CEL came on, but is now off.
