MI springs and swaybar. Which swaybar?

I think I am finally over my whiplash enough to finally get lowering springs. I have held off do to the firmer spring rate.

Which swaybar do you guys recommend for a sedan? the 19mm or 23mm? Has anybody here actually tried both?

I would get the 23. I have the 19 but I'm finding that I would like a bit more stiffness. I remember Garm posted that the 23 was a 15% or so increase in anti sway however don't quote me on anything ;)

There is no downside to the 23mm sway bar, other than price; the sway bar only affects the car in turns.

After reading that, I'm not so sure. I have no plans on autocrossing this car, I just want a lower profile with "sportier" handling.

The ability to induce oversteer at will does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I will probably end up getting the 19 mm.

Here's my suspension set up.

TRD Sportivo Shocks
Tein S.Tech springs
Tanabe front strut bar
TRD rear sway bar (I think TRD is 19mm, right?)
GT-Spec rear sway link brace
2-pt Megan front lower tie bar
2-pt Megan middle lower tie bar
the useless 2-pt Megan rear lower tie bar


Right now, with my generic tires and heavier rims, I have a slight understeer (felt better without the lower tie bars as it was more neutral then). If you would prefer to stay with slight understeer, go with 19mm. I wish I had the 23 mm tho.

You'd have to sell it (On here is a good place to try) and then buy a new one.

i have 19 i dont think theres a need to go with the 23 at least for just reg driving around. its great to just have the ability to take turns at 45-50 even with the 19 ive always felt confidant that the car will make it so far

Adding a 19mm bar will make a world of improvement for both handling and stabiltiy. :thumbup:
That said, I'm now considering the step up to a 23mm bar as understeer is still prevalent. And when the weight of the Blitz S/C is added up front the power-on understeer can only increase. Time will tell.

Potential crappy handling in bad weather is the only thing making me consider the 19mm one.

I've NEVER experienced oversteer whether wet, dry, frozen or deep with white.
After years with RWD cars I crave some four wheel driftability and balance is required to achieve that.

That's nice to know.

The rusty truck in my avitar was detuned last year due to crazy oversteer. 400+ horsepower and a very tight posi rear axle meant that rear end was always trying to come around. It was fun when you wanted it, but it was a pain to drive in the rain. It is probably 325 horsepower now, but a lot nicer to drive.

Since the Yaris is my everyday transportation, I want to stay well away from the edge.
