Sometimes when stopped with the clutch pushed in if you go thu the gears the trans feels like it gets tight won't go into 1st gear until you let the clutch out and push it back in then a little bit later it feels fine. This morning I drove to work 35miles away was going thu the parking lot in second gear stopped and tried to put in in first gear wouldn't go in until i let the clutch out and pushed back in worked fine on the way home have 100,003 mile on car trans oil changed at 75,000miles

That is completely normal for most every manual trans.
You have to momentarily let the clutch out (like you described) to get the shafts spinning to enable the syncros to slip on to and engauge on the proper shaft.
In other words shafts usually have to be spinnning for syncros to function properely.
If gear teeth are not lined up via syncros, etc. you can't shift into that gear.
Somtimes when stopped, you can go through the gears without using the clutch and other times, you cant.
Like I said, it's normal.

Also notice if you ever have trouble getting it in reverse, put it in 4th and then try reverse again. will go in nice and smooth..

Take care of tranny man..... I already been through one......if you drive lot or you drive hard your car you might want to change your gear oil every 6 mos.... extend the life of it as much as possible ......... but if your problem worsens it might be a syncros wearing out or damaged ... I had that prob on my old tranny.......when it grinds to shift into gear worry.... lol

What I do (if it wont go into R) is just let the clutch out for a second in neutral then, it will slide into reverse every time.

Just wanna confirm that this is normal, I had totally forgotten about it though because when I war learning how to drive a manual I was told to get into the habit of only putting it in 1st gear at a dead stop or going veeeeeery slow.

To get slightly smoother gear handling try just oiling and lubing the gear linkage on top of the gear box... WD-40 and some lube.

What kind of driving requires a gear oil change every six months? It seems like overkill.

Not if u want your tranny to last u a long time.... if u drive a lot or drive it hard or both its good to change it.... I drive a lot & I take it to the track occasionally .... I'm going to start doing it...its good to have fresh oil in there......

Okay, I can understand a track car and hard shifting but not the "drive a lot". There's a reason why they make it a semi-pain to change the gear oil.

shouldnt the manual transmission fluid be changed every 40000miles?

Correct, this is to aviod putting a stain on the syncros.
Never try to force it into any gear.
