Wow you guys are bright.
I always run Citgo in all my cars. I can't say whether or not its better than anything else, but it runs well. My old Neon had problems with Shell gas. Something about it would mess up the fuel level sending unit.

Shell happens to be the best in Australia ~
In my opinion anyways ~ Caltex......have had some bad news about it here and I realised my km's were getting used faster ~

I run Chevron on all my cars. When ever I run Shell, its like im owning a SUV. Thats just how many times I have to take a trip to Shell. It burns too gawd damn quick. Reason why i gave my car Shell gas is because my mom gets $20 Shell gas cards from work and sometimes she would trade me for a $10 movie card. So Shell sucks... that is all.

shell 93 octane seems to be the best I have found here in the Toledo Area, not that many others here in Toledo... Speedway, BP & Sunoco

yea, for the most part its nothing night and day.. negligible differences really.
But.... one occasion I went to some hole in the wall gas station way out in the mid of nowhere... and wowwowow was that gas terrible, my monte carlo sounded different, was super sluggish... just horrid gas, and that was 93!

don't waste the $ on higher octanes, concern yourself with the deterrgents that they use.

higher octane = better fuel economy
i dont think so , when i had my echo, i have always use 87, then i switch to 93 just to see if there were any difference, and there was a difference, it was that i was getting less MPG for the 93 than the 87, higher octane does not = better fuel economy:cool:

Use the recommended gas. The car is timed for the slower burning octane. The higher octane burns at a higher temp and in the long run will start causing that famous knocking noise in your engine. Sparkplugs and everything else will start feeling the pain of the higher heat and quicker burn, slowly but surely over time. Maybe once or twice a year you can run the higher octane to make you think you’re cleaning it out but it really don’t matter. Toyota did not design the engine to need all those extra additives that they put in the higher octane fuel. You’re wasting money for higher octane. Get the cheap stuff and keep more of your money in your pocket, Toyota recommends it! And your car will thank you for it.

Higher octane fuel actualy has retartant. And the cure for that "famous knocking noise" is to use higher octane fuel. The knocking noise if from using lower octane fuel, not higher.
Our cars can tell the difference between 87 and 93 octane. And when you state "Toyota recommends it" I do not find that entirely true, when they (Toyota) give an octane # for the car it is the minimum recommended.

I agree with Go4th, i tried 93 many times before, it burns out quicker than the 87, I was just wasting my money, higer octane fuel are for high performance cars with a high performance engine, our 1.5L VVT-i is not a high performance engine, so you are just wasting your money:cool:

i've mentioned this in another thread,
on one of my regular drives, i go past a fuel truck re-filling station and i've noticed trucks from all of the major fuel companies filling up from the same tanks.
that would tell me that this is the exact same fuel they are using and selling under different brand names.
are any addities specific to companies added at the actual stations?
i would doubt it myself.
i've kept track of my mileage since the car was new, always using 87 octane from various companies, i have never noticed a difference in fuel economy depending on the brand of the fuel.
