So-Cal Monthly Meet

Hey everyone, I was talking with some other peeps yesterday about start a monthly meet...? It would be most likely on the last weekend of the month, most likely on a Saturday or Sunday nite..... it might held at different locations central to LA, OC & IE or maybe in a different county every month......? Maybe even we can do one in san diego if the san diego peeps are down...? I want to get everyones input & ideas... I want to see how many ppl are down to actually attend... if there's a amount willing to start this, we can try to set one up for next month depending if it's popular by demand .... hopefully everyone gives a good feedback .. thanks...

If you rotate counties you're at least likely to get some locals to attend when it's in their next of the woods if they're not willing/able to travel.

If you did LA/OC/SD/IE you would be able to have a meet in each county 3 x's a year.


Anybody ever think about having a Yaris build party? We could bring our tools/knowledge together and bang out some upgrades on our cars...

Build parties would be pretty cool actually. Although I'm sure most people would want to put their new upgrade on asap. Maybe it would be good for harder installs or something you'd rather do with someone who has done it already, or for people who have not done too much with their car before.

That would definitely get some more people out and also encourage more people to tackle installs that they otherwise think would be too hard to do.

Have to figure out how many times a year it would be though. Every month may be tiring for people who don't have a lot more to do, and not having a build party often enough wouldn't work. Perhaps we could do it depending on demand or something. Have a thread where if enough people express interest in doing one, and get whatever they want to upgrade by then, then we set one up. Maybe it should be separate from monthly meets and be somewhere more centralized to IE,LA,OC,SD.

I'm throwing out late night thoughts, sorry if none of it makes sense, I'm going to sleep now.

If monthly is an issue maybe we can do it quarterly, that way nobody's driving too far frequently and eventually getting bored too quickly (just saying, it's happened in the past). 3 months at a time should be enough to keep everyone curious of what everyone's been up to and thus wanting to meet-up :wink:

I like the every other month idea. Being far from everyone, I can understand how the San Diego members feel. At the very least, 1 meet in San Diego. I realize a majority of people are the greater LA area.

thats why there should be a spot thats drama free, has food near-by, and provides a great enviornment for future meets.

i would go to san diego if it works with my scedule. i go there quite often or at least once every few months. :thumbsup:

PCH doesn't go all the way to SD. You would have to get on the 5 for a few miles then you can exit the freeway and take Coast Highway the rest of the way to SD. PCH would make a good cruise though.

IDK what's been going on with Sonics lately, but I heard our past meets were dropped due to cop presence from illegal activity by the stupid Fit ricers on the same nights. I wasn't there so IDK for sure, but I would say it wouldn't be a bad thing to avoid this place and risking this happening again. Just a heads up.

Unless someone's been there a few times lately and seen that all is good. Otherwise SpeedZone's always been primo for meets. The ones I've been to have had no issues so far.

It has me really pumped about what I can do with Barnaby now. I'm definitely doing lowering springs, as you suggested. I just have to call Toyota and see what it'll do to my warranty... :/ I'm hoping it won't invalidate it.

Is that so? I hope you're right! I'd be so stoked! I think I'm going to order the Tanabe NF210s from Micro Image. But I'm still looking up reviews on it. I like that it's progressive and it's not really a large drop.

My hunni told me that I could always say it's been done by a certified mechanic and they'd never know. But I'm just going to call first. I have to do it anyway to ask if putting in cruise control will invalidate my warranty as well. Shit, I may as well just make a list!

Oh, and thanks for the name compliment. ^_^ I had to pick something as cute/ugly as it is!

They're already black. They're just terribly ugly.
Plus, the weights fell off on the back tires with the hubcaps. I called Toyota and they can rebalance them for $50 and they'll put the weights behind the rim & put my new hubcaps on them. Sooo...guess that's what I'm gunna go with.

The nearest America's Tire is in Poway, about 45 min from me, while the nearest Toyota is 10 min. But you're right; I'll shop around. I just want to go to someplace reputable.
I wish I wouldn't have bought through a dealership now. There's too many things that could invalidate my stupid warranty.


& I'm not up for a weekday meet. I'd never be able to make those. I get off too late and you guys are all a couple hours from me. D:

I saw a meteorite metallic Yaris on here with the stock hubcaps blacked out. I think I'm gunna do that this weekend. My hunni will balance my wheels for me this Sunday. Woo, only $10 on base if you do it yourself! :D

There was a lot of traffic out on track making it difficult to get a clean fast lap but it seemed like everyone had a great time! :thumbup:

sorry, i meant for the meets to be earlier in the day/afternoon. saturday and sunday work for me.

for example, i own a datsun truck and they have this meet that comes i think every 3 months that is a swapmeet and a carshow. people show up in the morning for the deals but the cars/trucks dont stop rolling in until 12 and that event ends i think at 3pm.

just throwing out an idea. i know i will make it to a meet one day. :smile:

I won't be coming to any up there anymore. This is ridiculous. The people who live near San Diego have to drive 2 hrs north, yet none of you are willing to drive 2 hrs south? You rarely even have the meets down here!
I'm totally willing, if I don't previously have something going on, to go up to the LA area once a month to hang with you guys. I was looking forward to making this a regular thing, regardless that these are drastically unorganized.

Its not the fact that we have to drive up there its the fact not a lot of ppl have not shown interest for this meet in particular.... not even the local SD guys shown interest. Jeff LA Yaris and myself already seen each others cars and chilled before. I was looking to see new ppl and Yaris. The San Diego meet in August was awesome and had a big turn out. This one didn't have to be to that caliber but it should have at least 6-8 ppl there to make it interesting. To me it don't matter if I drive to SD, I've driven there and to I.E and to Vegas just for meets, I'm always down so long as there a good amount of cool ppl and a good location . Don't take it personal carrot top, this sometimes happens.

I only had 2 ppl go to the meet this past November @ mb2.....
