Please can anyone assist with increasing the volume on my 2010 Yaris Indicator flasher unit. The problem starts with the fact that unless I am making a really positive turn the indicators do not always cancel. The volume of the flasher unit is so low that I cannot hear it particularly if the radio is on. Other drivers then see my indicators flashing, think I will be making a turn and pull out in front of me - very dangerous. I have bought a standard audible flasher relay which may or may not be compatible but I cannot locate the relay on my RH drive Yaris.
A variable volume control on flasher units is an issue Toyota might like to address on future cars as not all drivers have full hearing and the dasboard flashers are not in eyeline to be seen

There are a couple of threads on here regarding this issue. A generic aftermarket one won't work, since Toyota one is custom. It is actually the large grey relay on the face of the under-dash fuse panel. It has two tiny relays in it, which is why it is barely audible. You could connect two (or one and two diodes) chimes or larger/louder relays to the turn signal wires under the dash.

Thanks for this CT.
I tried getting dash off. It almost came but I could not work out the final retaining fixing so it would not come, I can have another try. I wonder if the relay I have bought is the one you desribe. I bought it off e-bay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160391444399&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123

That link is not to a relay.

Hi, I've just acquired a 2010 Yaris and sure enough the flasher relay is very quiet. CTScott, you suggested "You could connect two (or one and two diodes) chimes or larger/louder relays to the turn signal wires under the dash." I would be most grateful if you could give me more detailed instructions so that I can attach a buzzer / chime to make it more audible. Is it possible to connect the buzzer to the rear indicators, as they are more accessible and if so which wire do I connect the buzzer to. Thanks
