new springs, abs light

Hey guys, just installed some new springs with OEM struts and the ABS suddenly came on. Any idea what this could be?

You may have accidentally popped off one of the 4 ABS sensor connectors.

Or you pulled a wire out in the rear. When changing the rear springs, it's very easy to un-bolt the struts, and let the axle just drop down. Unfortunately, it pulls on the ABS wires.

I had this happen too. I had crimped the abs wire which broke it. I had to buy a new abs wire.

Thanks ill have to check that out. And the creeking noise from the new springs is all part of 'breaking it in'?

^ Go drive the crap out of it, lots of turns, let them settle.

Oh good. So thats normal then? Was scared my tires would fall off or something. lol. its the MI springs btw :)

just took another look under the hood and i can see the strut poping out a 1cm or 2. could it be a tightening problem?

You mean the upper rubber bushing is away from the sheet metal? That's normal.

^. Correct, 100% normal.

Make sure your lug nuts are tightened and torqued. That can cause creaking. I know I've driven off with hand tightened ones before. :eek:

are you sure 1-2cm(1/2"-3/4")gap seems abit excessive i could see 1cm at most

Thanks guys. Springs were on backwards -.- The one post on MI.com got me confused lol. No creaking noises. Ride is unbelievably awesome. Just the ABS light is on. Anyone know where the sensor is located? pics?

If he's got the nut tightened properly, and he's using all the parts in the right order, then yes. This has been posted about over and over again, with pictures. Even a stock Yaris has a gap. It has to, because the strut moves around and changes angles as the car turns.
