Heater core hose

Can someone tell me what the hose is that goes under the engine cover?
Mine looks like it split but is still connected at the engine. I think it is a heater core line.

That's the EGR hose, and if you look closely there is an outer protective layer, and that is probably what is split.

Thanks CTScott... It is the outer layer that actually split and the clamp slipped off. Guess I gotta get a new hose. Gonna try to cut it and put clamp back on. Only need to cut 1/2 inch off I think.
