Any yaris owners here going or went to track lapping? How does the car performs? Is it really appropriate to bring a 100hp car to the track at all?

I'm goign to STRA for August 21st!

Don't worry about bringing a "slow" car at all, people will pass you, it won't be a problem, just let them go and have fun learning/racing.

The only things I'd say are mandatory are:
Fresh synthetic oil
Fresh synthetic brake fluid
Sticky tires

After that:
EBC/Hawk/other high performance pads
Suspension
Performance Alignment

Worry about motor afterwards.

The best part is, on a tight track like Mosport DDT, our cars do great in braking and can handle pretty decent, so the low power level isn't a huge deal.

My echo's bone stock motorwise (still), but with brakes, springs/struts, alignment and 225/45/13 Toyo R888's on light 13" rims I do a pretty decent job hassling "faster" cars and even passing a few

TMP is an easier track, but a faster one, so you will get passed a lot there. Much smoother than Mosport DDT.

Unfortunately I will be really busy in Aug, that's why I only posted Sep schedule. I got a full day CPR training this Sunday and then the next Sunday I have to go for a orientation training in my college as I will be one of the leaders. I also have to undergo my laser eye surgery and some dentist related orthodontics. Hence, September is really the earliest that I could attend an event like this.

I hope someone can meet with you guys but if you can stay until first week of Sep then most likely we would be able meet you guys on the track.

Were you like the Jetta guy? hahah

I'm seriously eyeballing a track car too (except it'll be driveable on the street)... not sure if it'll be an echo, but the Honda's are looking like a good choice for this type of work...

S2k's are sweeeet... but way out of my price range.
Plus at that price I'd import a C5 vette anyhow.

The handling abilities of civic's are hard to ignore... although I'm sure I could get an echo + coilovers for the cost of a straight civic car only.

We're at the top of the heap when it comes to cornering speeds.
