headlight bulb

I put in a new bulb and forgot how it goes in. Should the new bulb have the little cover facing up? I am talking about when you look closely at the bulb you will see a little piece that directs the light. Think I might have put mine in wrong. Seems the light not reflecting the right way.
It was not bad to replace. Pulled off the bumper cover and took headlight assembly out. 20 minute job

They only go in one way. They have tabs on them. How can you manage to put them in and lock them down with the spring clip otherwise?
