$199 / year for their basic "safe & sound" plan or...

$299 / year for their better "directions & connections" plan...

Sounds like a very expensive proposition, for something that I know that I would never use...

I think the basic OnStar is a great idea for those who travel through deserted areas. I would consider it if I could purchase the unit and install it myself.
