Maybe it's just me, but if one spends that much for a car I would expect it to never breakdown or need major repairs.

It's just you.
The way I see it is if you have the ability to buy such a car, you should be able to maintain it. If you wanted a sound investment, you should have bought a house and a 1:24 scale car for the fireplace mantel.

R/C cars are much cheaper than our cars, they make them in all flavors. lol

Yeah, you know what they say, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

You think that's bad, consider there's a 300% import tax on cars here... those guys who drive lambos and ferraris are extra extra loaded... I'll stick with my cheap lil car :D

You would kinda think so. Oddly enough though, supercars are, by far, the most unreliable cars you can buy.
One of the few makes that seem to overcome this trend is Porsche which is often on top of the reliability ratings. However, most Porsche's aren't considered exotic supercars. That classification is typically reserved for cars over $150K or so, and even $150K exotic is the low end. $250K+ buys you a true exotic.
Weird how a "cheaply" built Yaris with cheap materials and cheap engineering will go 150,000 miles with just oil changes while an over engineered car with crazy expensive exotic materials is unlikely to even make it to 100,000 miles and still be able to run. Engine replacements are really common. Even the example in the article shows an engine replacement in the first year or so of ownership. Pathetic.
I agree with you though, cars like this should be bullet proof.
I think the other exception to this exotic rule will be the $400K Lexus LFA.
Toyota/Lexus are about reliability first and I think even with a supercar, Lexus will prove that reputation with LFA too.

This estimate sounds like BS. Who spends $700 for an "oil service"?
If one is not shopping around for the best price, any car can cost this much in maintenance.
Part is one thing, but service and maintenance in thousands - B.S.
