so i've finally decided on XXR 522s as i love the look and the price
thing is though they're listed at 25mm offset and from what i've gathered, most folks recommend running on +35-45mm offset. do i need spacers?
i'm looking at 16x7 and wrapping with 205/40 or 195/40. also, i'm lowered on DF210s.
cheers

You're thinking of it the wrong way. Starting with a +25 offset, adding a 10mm spacer will make the wheel have a +15 offset, which will push them even further out. The offset number is the distance between the center of the wheel to the back side mounting surface. Spacers are helpful if you got a rim with a +50 offset, and wanted it down to a +40. You might be better off finding another rim with a better offset.

nice.. Those look awesome.. I personally think +25 would work with a bit of fender liner work and with 195/40/16. you may have to cut the front finder liner a bit though..
I had 15x7 with +15, ran 195/50/15 and had to raise the rear up a little bit. I think +30 in the front and +25 in the rear would be a good setup.
check my pictures with that setup post #942

would a lower offset help? they run from 0-25mm...

for less amount of rubbing, you want higher offset. I think your best bet would be between +30 and +40

would the 15x7 make a big difference over the 16x7? ...i mean it's a whole other inch of clearance...

^ NO.
You need to keep in mind that the total diameter of wheel + tire needs to stay within the 23.xx inch mark. Drop wheel diameter by an inch, means tire sidewall needs to increase by an inch.

not unless you don't mind having a slightly different outside rolling diameter
usually an outside diameter of +/- 1/2 inch within stock won't have more than a 3% difference in speedo reading.
meaning if factory is 23.62? , a pretty safe region (outside rolling diameter) is 24 on the high end and maybe 23 on the low end (assuming factory is 23.62 ish??)

A- aren't those wheels offered in a 40offset? (have you searched?)
B- my 16x7 40mm offset 195/50/16's rub like a mofo in the front !!!! (with coilovers) (fyi) = I know that DF210's aren't as low, but I would still expect some rubbing with a 25mm offset and 205's / maybe not as much with 195/40's

Good luck. They are a good looking wheel.
BTW, just so you know, 195/40/16 will be smaller than OEM diameter so your speedo/odo will be a tad off.

I know you meant sidewall needs to increase by 1/2 an inch, but OP is a wheel/tire newbie so just to be clear...

195/50/16 tires with a 16X7 ET40 rim will not rub unless you are REALLY lowered - a DF210 may still rub. This wheel/tire combo is a good compromise for looks, handling and ride comfort.
If you don't want to "compromise" and want extreme lowering/low offset & wide wheels, be prepared to roll your fenders and trim plastic.

I have DF210 on my car and with 25 offset in the rear on a 8" wheel and it rubs, but only on the tire and not enough to hurt the tire so far.....you should be fine with minor roll on the fender to keep the sharp edge off tire roll it as soon as you can, you'll see it by the bumper there it is where it will rub.
the 25 offset on the rear only sticks out 3mm more than the fronts with 35 offset and 7 inch rim...no rubbing at all in the fronts for me,I think you may have minor rub in the front as well.
The 1st gen xB guys use the following trick on their rides.....take off bumper and wehre the fender and bumper meet there is that black plastic clip for bumper, use a few washers behind it to push out the fender and the bumper will stretch just enough and it still looks normal......that is the point the fronts rub at....it should work same on yaris,we have the same type mount point.

by the way those rims are sweet.

Might need a slight pull to fully eliminate rubbing. 195/40/16 won't be much of a stretch (if any) on a 7" wide rim. 522's are sick tho. Definitely post pics once you get them.

thanks for all the help guys :respekt:
defo posting once i get it sorted...found a guy to roll the fenders for me and the wheels should be in saturday sometime. if all goes according to plan i should have them mounted and on by sunday at which point i'll be able to assess the next step (roll, pull, camber etc)
fuggen stoked
right now i'm looking at yokohama s. drives @ 195/40. they seem to be the only brand i can find in that size...suits me though :iono:
