When I had my audio wire too close to electric wires, I had noise issues.
I'm not the right person to answer this, but I'm sure some one else will but in.

There are several people who hooked it up to their PC, but not sure about cars.
Anyway here is a link on how this guy did his (and it's 12V)? LINK (http://www.danielandrade.net/2005/12/06/howto-blinking-leds/)
There is a video of the final product as well. Maybe you could do something similar.
Lots of YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPhm8VTCWpg) stuff, too.

PC lighting: Cold Cathode kits are an option. I have them lighting up my floors and have a knob to adjust sensitivity to sound for bass light ups. They use a small speaker to pick up noise as oppse to plugging in an audio cord.
I also notice that you have underbody lighting, mine came with sound reactive, cool to have 7 color option and boom boom light up.

I've seen some electrical circuit DIY's when I did a search on Google. But those require you to purchase the parts and solder it yourself. I'd say keep searching Google, because I know they make them. Probably eBay??
