Sorry, Toyota, but the 2012 Yaris is fugly.

This baby VW, though, isn't. Of course, the States won't get it, or it will be slush-box auto only...

Saw this the other day and was thinking..."why doesn't VW even compete in the small car market in the US?" Didn't they invent it? Sure, there's the Golf and Beetle which are "small" but start at $18K and $19K. :thumbdown:

What they need is a true sub-compact such as the UP! in the US that starts around $13K. Perhaps though, they couldn't make money on it. Although building it in Mexico would likely make it feasible.

Also, the engines available are 59 and 74 HP, LOL. 59HP?? City driving only, I guess. They'd need at least a 100 hp unit for a US version.

Also notice, only two side vents. No center vents? :confused:

If you squint and look at it from some distance, it resembles a 3-door Mitsubishi Colt. Especially the rear side window.

Mine's got 69hp (51kW). It takes some getting used to, but I had little trouble keeping up with the 90-100 mph traffic on German autobahns this Summer. Then again I guess anything with less than 100hp (regardless of the size and weight of the car) is considered underpowered over there :tongue:

In the middle of the "upper" dash, just behind the nav (?) screen.
