dash problems...help needed

the digital dash on my 2001 yaris gs keeps going out .....i went to a breakers and tried a new dash. it lit up ok but it didnt show the mph or revs also it showed my fuel tank as being full when i knew it was only half full....the guy at the breakers said mr toyota might have to set the dash up with the ecu.....is this correct? if so how much would this cost ? or will they have to sell me a new dash as well ?

you might want to try the breakers again and after hooking up the new cluster pull the batt cable for a few secs and then hook it backup to "reset" the ecu
