Hi,
Could any of you tell me how easy is it to adjust the handbrake on a 2003 yaris. When I first pull up the handbrake it doesn’t hold the car sufficiently and if on a slight incline it begins to roll. I have to then pull the handbrake up to it’s highest possible point to have any effect. Is it possible to tighten the handbrake.
Thanks for any advice.

You gotta take off rear drums and turn the little star looking wheel. Use a flat head screwdriver and turn both sides left wheel and right wheel evenly. Brake shoes may be worn out if handle moving that high also. You can find a DIY for adjusting brakes if you type that in search box that is how I learned lol.
Just remember turn 2-3 clicks at a time. I am not sure how to back if off if you get too tight brakes may drag

I think you just turn the wheel the opposite direction, it has an arm on it that you would lift to go back doesn't it?
I just had mine adjusted, holds the car after 2 clicks of pulling the e-brake lever.

Yeah, you don't have to take the wheels and drums off to adjust the shoes in the rear. There should be a rubber plug in the backside of the brake shield. Take that off, shine a flashlight in, and find the wheel to turn.
