i would like the Tein S.Techs since they are stiffer and provide a lower drop. plus, i don't have the money to have the dealer install a set of springs... :frown:

01-29-2007, 09:59 AM
Kaotic I was thinkin the same thing.........I wanted the dealer to install the springs for warranty issues and then i thought to myself the only thing im really worried about when it comes to the warranty is engine and transmission.....none of which they can pin to the springs as going bad, plus the nf springs didnt slam it but gave it a nice little drop and didnt throw off the cars geometry.....
I get why your worried but unless your slamming it over 2 inches, i dont think you will have the warranty issue
Kaotic Lazagna
01-29-2007, 11:42 AM
i forget how much the Tein's drop the car, i think it's at least 2 inches. i just remember the spring rates only...hmmm, should i call the dealer and ask?
07typeS
01-29-2007, 08:30 PM
i mean if you drop it dont plan on them fixing springs, or shocks under warranty.........if your curious just give them a call, dont give them your name or anything cause they might refernce your call and mark it on your file.....ive heard of that happening and it happened to a friend....i think he called about headers, and it heated up and melted some wiring......so he put the stock ones back on and it took it in......they had it written it down that he inquired about the headers, and were able to check the computer log and other things....

i wouldn't mind changing springs or shocks, because i would change those sooner-or-later. i just want to keep my powertrain warranty. oh, thanks for the heads-up.

well change of plans, for the better i think........
rims were on back order til early april, he showed me some others, a couple more expensive and siad hed give them to me for the same price plus throw in some locks.....
so i decided on a set of koya rs-gt's on the same 205/45/17 kuhmo tires......drives really nice and looks tons better, what a difference.
hes a picture of the rims, will get some pics of the car this weekend....

just called a different Toyota dealership. they told me that if i "lower my friend's Yaris liftback"   , it will only void the suspension warranty (struts, ball-joints, etc). what is the likelyhood that the A-arms and other suspension pieces will be affected by lowering the car?

02-07-2007, 06:35 PM
lol if your going with a small drop.....like 1.2 inches (example the nf kit) you wont have any problems......i mean if your slamming it 2 1/2 and seriously throwing off geometry then you may want to worry but our cars wont allow that much of a drop anyway.....
the lowering of the car may cause premature wearing of the stock struts and shocks, depending on how low you go......it may it may not, just depends on terrain and things like that....but we all know what were getting into with that, and make sure your friend knows as well.......after they go just throw on a nice pair of aftermarket struts and shocks and ull be good 2 go.....

and thanks for the compliments guys......they look really good and i was pleased even more with them in person......much happier then the original ones i picked out....lemme wash the car and crack some pictures.......
now that i got some things done.......whos up for that southern cali meet....

i think the Tein's drop the sedan at least 2 inches. i don't really mind about the struts and shocks, sooner or later they have to be replaced anyway.
oh, lol...i said my friend to the dealer so that i didn't have to say, "i want to lower my Yaris..." lol...sorry about the confusion.

nice dude, alot like my s but i need wheels bad!
in your honest opinion did the 17's make it ride any worse? every experience i've had with a small light car and putting 17's on it made it ride and track like shit, this is my commuter and im not gonna have it riding like crap just for looks, i'll put my stock tires on some nice 15's for comfort, but 17's just look sooo much better
hey kaotic, i can lower your car for you so you don't have to have a shop to it if your interested.
07typeS
02-07-2007, 08:48 PM
didnt make it ride a lot worse....little noisier which is expected from a lower profile tire than stock......as far as bumps and things like that, it isnt too noticable that im on 17's......the 45 series tire is perfect...
i do have a little issue with rubbing, but im getting that worked out......
you wouldnt happen to know if there is a different between the left and right front springs do you? it seems my driver side dropped a little more than my passenger side did.....what im thinkin is they made one side have a little more of a firm spring rate, maybe to accomodate a driver always being in it.
if anyone can help me on that id appreciate it
oh and the rub is only on serious bumps like on the freeway that i dont notice...some firmer springs would take care of the problem, so would trimming the inner fender a little....or thinner tires.......
El Jefe

mine front springs were identical, same part numbers and everything, that sucks about the rubbing tho, and i agree these springs are pretty soft but thats ok with me

lol...it's cool...yeah, i would like to get a set of rims, but i need to do tint first. it gets unbearably hot here in Sac. also, seeing that i commute a crap load of miles  i need to find some nice lookin', light weight rims. i really like the rims that you just got, how much are they and do you know how heavy they are?

a lot of people roll the inner fenders with a round hammer or baseball bat.

where did you get your Yaris tinted? i was think about having mine tinted at Eclipse over at Auburn and Greenback. oh, i haven't seen your S here in Sac??? then again, the only other S i see here is a light silver one in Sac State. the rest are liftbacks and base sedans.

whats funny though its only on the driver side......and the fact that my passenger side is a tad higher than my driver side makes me wanna switch the two set ups around and see what happens.......
and im 280lbs.....i think with someone in my passenger seat i wouldnt have this problem

i go to the main campus off madison and college oaks.
i think i payed like $215 for all 5 windows, but i got like 10 or 15% off because i was working for folsom lake kia at the time. the quality is awesome imo, it's nice and dark from the outside but you can see very well from the inside out.
im pretty busy with work and school but let me know when your thinking of doing it and i'll see what i can do

cool, cool. i went to that ARC last summer and a couple of days in the beginning of the summer. never saw your Yaris...i'll be paying $280 for 15% tint in the back 5 windows, and 50% in the front two windows. but yeah, i'll let you know once i get the springs. thanks.
