A few times I was sitting at a Red light and when it turned Green I pushed clutch real fast and put in 1st gear but it grinds the gears if I do it really fast. I didn't notice this before. If I push clutch and give it a second before putting in gear it wont grind. Is the synchronizers wearing out? I change fluid about every 30k with synthetic blend from walmart. I got 121k miles on car.

i get the same thing, although I notice it more often since I changed to royal purple gear oil. I'm also getting a grind when I go from 2nd to 3rd quickly if I don't double clutch.

^^ Yep same here !!! Switched to royal purple a few months ago and have very notchy engagement and a desent grind when going 3-2 . I think its just to slick for the yaris gears imo .I will be switching to redline mt-90 next weekend and hope that helps...

hmm, I have had the same kind of oil in for 2 years so cant say that is why. Guess I cant try to pop it into gear so fast.

only time I ever had an issue with grinding a gear when shifting is when I didnt push the clutch far enough and i was shifting faster then usuall. My hands were moving faster then my feet were. but under normal driving I never had a problem with this. I did notice you guys are running Higher milage then me and you guys gots 07-08s.. maybe '10 got some improvements or its just not worn in yet

Starting to happen more frequently think 1st syncro is getting bad. Better change oil to see how it looks
