Having grinding when shifting want to change oil. Not sure what to use. I been using supertech brand synthetic blend from walmart. No problems till now at 120k miles. Hope I didn't put in wrong oil. What brand or GL do I need

Crap the oil I have been using is GL-5. Have I hurt the synchro to cause the grinding?
Gonna go get some Royal Purple that says compadable with GL-4 and 5

The oil you have been using is fine. Purple oil will not fix the problem. (now if only they made yellow oil) If it was my car I would start by bleeding/changing the oil in the hydralic clutch.

GL-4 is best . Know this from experience with a '08 3 door YARIS and a 2000 Chevy Prizm ( Corolla ) . Both 5 speed manuals . Tried MOBIL 1 ( GL-5 ) in the Prizm and the shifting would grind , etc.. Drained that for REDLINE MT-90 a GL-4 ( 75w-90 ) and no more grinding , notchiness or clunking into reverse . Live and learn .

If it grinds every gear, it probably isn't the tranny fluid.

I also used Redline MT-4 in my Echo and it worked well, instantly noticed smoother shifting.

Only grinds if I try to mash clutch and put in gear say all within 1.5 seconds

Something's up then, I flat foot shift when racing sometimes and I don't get any grinding.
