3000k bulbs in the headlights

Hi guys, I have a 2000 yaris sedan, and I was thinking of changing the stock bulbs for 3000k pure yellow bulbs that I found in Amazon, because I can barely see when there is heavy rain and fog, unfortunately the bumper of the 2000 is not fitted to installed fog lights (at least that is what I think)

Has anybody installed this kind of bulbs in the headlights of a yaris?
Is there any improvement against the stock bulbs?

Another question is if there is going to be a problem with the wattage of the bulbs, because they say they are 100/90W, and I not sure is the electric system will be able to handle this wattage.

What is the recommended wattage for the headlights bulbs?

I smell a rip-off. My mind is telling me yellow bulbs that aren't part of a proper HID kit are likely to be only as bright or dimmer than stock. If you want slightly brighter than stock without going for the full kit, you're best bet is pure white (5000K). If you still want go with yellow, then you'll need the kit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i wouldnt run 3000k halogens....they'll be too dim.

ive run 3000k bixenon hid's (h4/9003) in our aveo and it was good. but keep in mind that yellow doesnt illuminate the same way as an oem-type colour around 4300k will. even with hid's, the 3000k didnt make things BRIGHT, but everything was visible.

anyways, i still have the 3000k H4 bulbs kicking around. if you're intrested, i can put them together as an hid kit for you (im an HID dealer in my area) and ship them to you.

I have ran 3000k halogens and the first time it rained at night I actually had to pull over,take the bumper off and change the bulbs back to stock......the reason,they fail to illuminate the road and you really cannot see at all where you are going.

Stick with 5000-6000k bulbs for best light,might want to stay away from HIDs in non projector lenses as they can glare something bad.

4300k hid's have the best all-around illumination....no doubt in my mind.

if you're really serious, my favorite setup is 4300 or 5000k's in the low beams and 3000k fogs.

currently i have stock halogens in my vibe gt and 3000k HID fogs.....its awesome at night

Even though I like yellow, and it is better than the horribly deeply blue and purple tinted bulbs, it is no better than them, as it still filters out a part of the light spectrum that the incandescent filament produces... which is a waste.

Don't get 8000K HIDs for fog... they just make the fog/heavy heavy rain whiter.. :)

For $50 or so u could get lower K kits say 4300K or yellow. HID is way better than halogen IMO. 35W kits are great, if u can find a 50/55W kit would be better.


Its only people who don't wash their windows who complain about glare then high beam you in an attempt to blind you because their lazy grumpy people

Thank you so much guys for all your advise, I probably won´t installed them, however some other friends bought the same bulbs, so I will see how will they work, but probably will get a kit or fog lights.

No, HID bulbs aren't supposed to go in a reflector/projector made for halogen bulbs period. The light pattern will never be ideal, because the housing isn't made for an HID bulb.

Around here I flip my rearview mirror up a fair bit to cars with HID's in stock headlights. And I live in a very well lit city, we don't even need our headlights around here.

Well I see fantasticly at night, light goes further, is clearer and I don't get flashed or angry looks from people or even the police.

if u don't even need lights. why bother keeping them in the car?

what is the maximum wattage that the electric circuit will handle without problems in the bulbs?

I have 6000K bulbs in my low beam projectors, and 3000K in my projector fogs. You're right, looks fantastic, and works great in fog and heavy snow!!
