Trouble code with my 05 Echo

Anyone have a problem with a P0012 code and what was involved to fix it?

P0012 = Camshaft Position "A" - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)

You didn't by any chance change your belt recently? Typically that error is due to an issue with the oil control valve for the VVT.

Its the wifes car and she says the engine light only comes on at highway speeds and doesnt come on at lower around town speeds..
My Scangauge reeds code P0012 every time..
No recent repairs in fact no repairs since buying the car, just the occasional oil change..

It may be that the OCV or its filter is gummed up. The filter is a mesh one, mounted into the block, just below the OCV. It kind of looks like a washer on the block. You use an allen wrench to remove the plug that covers the filter.
