My yaris was parked in our garage for 3 months, the battery died. We took out the battery and charged it at home with a wall plug. It worked and we were able to drive the car for 3 days without a glitch. So this evening, went to get an oil change and for some reason it wouldn't start. We replaced the battery with a new one and it started it up again. However, it you turn the car off and wait for 30 minutes or so, the car would not start up again unless you take out the negative connection to reset the battery.

also, it seems like the car is having a hard time reving up to 3000 RPM.

Any ideas as to what's wrong? the battery is brand new.

Your car did not come with an immobilizer. Only '08 onwards.

When you try to restart it, does it even try to run, or is it just cranking over and nothing else?

Is the negative post and cable clean and secure? The 3 month old gas probably went bad

We filled up the tank right away before we drove so that the old gas is diluted.

it's probably the immobilizer. Aftermarket ones can cause problems.

Yes I am sorry this happened to you but after market things like alarms, remote start cruise control etc frequently cause these problems.

There is no way I would ever have this done to my car.

I would have to believe that if you looked at the things done to install this device you will find the problem.

Is the security light on or flashing when trying to start the car?

What kind of immobilizer is it. Is it active, where you have to press a button? Or is it passive where it's got a sensor for when you're in the car?

Could be the start of a bad crank sensor?

When the car i started, there's no security light flashing.

The immobilizer is a sensor ( a key chain the needs to be beside the key fob) for it to work. I spoke with service and they mentioned that an immobilizer may have a separate battery? anyone heard of this?

Thanks

If its your immobolizer your car would start up then die right away, its kind of like an Anti-Theft system from the factory. I think you might have a bad crank sensor, the car is running bad, having problems starting and staying started. I could be wrong though, has the check engine light popped on at all during any of these problems?

My brother in law's car's immobilizer craps out on him simetimes, what he needs to do is put the key in, and sit in the driver's seat for a few minutes
