Had my autox event at Roebling Road Raceway yesterday. I got video, but i left the camera on twice thru 2 runs so there is alot of boring footage thats annoying, I need to edit the video. as soon as I do, I will post it.
My opponents:
Honda Fit
04 celica
96 integra LS
imprezza
yaris (me)
I havent seen the actual times yet and will post those up when the website posts them.
The Fit gave me the most challenge to beat. My best run was 62.1 sec. with a clean run. it was my 2nd run too. The fit got 61.7 but hit 1 cone which adds 2 secs for a total 63.7, that was his 3rd run. I tried my hardest to find that 1/2 sec. But I could not get it. I knew if he ran a clean run he would have beaten me. Not even my last run saved me.. I found out later He had an amazing run going with alot of speed, but ended up too hot in a gate and spun out.. I basicly came in first by inches. 1 cone kept me in 1st.
You can call it luck or driver skill.. either way. 1st place for the yaris in Street Touring class (ST).
Also, out of 89 registered drivers, I cam in 10th place in PAX time.. I dont know my raw time place yet, but I will post when I get it.

:thumbsup:Nicely done. If your closest competitor lost control, you're just a better driver. Driving skill isn't just going fast, it's also not going too fast:biggrin:

That looks like a very fun and forgiving autox design -- I would love to race there.

I always wondered how they set up an auto-x at Roebling, looks like a fast coarse. Are you a Buccaneer Region Member? I know a few people from that region, mostly Corner Worker and such. The track Managers can some times be a little rough on our folks, but did treat us better at our last event.

I am not a member of buccaneer region, only SCCA as of right now, only been at this track as a spectator and autox. I have yet to work a corner, but I plan on doing more of that next year. Yes, the owners and managers will throw you out in a heartbeat for not following rules. It seems like you have to know what they know in order for them to cut you any slack.. I just say yes ma'am/sir and I do not argue anything they try to push, even if I think its stupid. I just let it happen and just try to have a good time.

Where was this? I'm in Atlanta, and I don't know of any Autocross places around here.

This particular track is Roebling Road Raceway. Its in Rincon, GA I think? Easily googlemap it. But We normally autox at Hutchinson Island in Savannah, Ga. There is an abandoned track down here that is owned by the Ports Authority, so we rent it from them thruought the year. We Just got OK to run at Saber Field on Hunter Army Airforce Base next year. excited about that.
There is a scca region in atlanta, I will have to look it up if I remember when I get home. I been wanting to run up there for a while. I know Valdosta holds thier nationals there.

Just look for Atlanta Region SCCA, at one time Butch Kummer was the R.E. of the Region, just not sure anymore. Not sure about where they auto-x these days, used to be at the old Braves Stadium. Best way to find out info on upcoming events might be in person, as they will run the ARRC at Road Atlanta real soon, be lots of SCCA folks to talk to then. I've been away from SCCA for about 6 years working with NASA now so kinda out of the loop, wish I could be more help.

Just got back. Couldn't get video unfortunately, I grabbed the wrong size batteries. Didnt have time to take pictures either but there was someone taking pictures off the side like last weekend and she will email me the pictures eventually. Good fun and worth every penny. Didn't go off track and I feel I really pushed these RS-3's everything they had in them. I need a actual track car to do this though, beating my Daily Driver may hurt in the long run. We will see.
Thanks for all the tips and suggestions.
