Installing Subs in a 2009 yaris HELP

I own a 2009 Toyota Yaris Sedan. I've recently purchased two 12inch Kicker Subs for my car. I need help and info on how to install them it comes with an amp and all the wires needed. I need to know where things go and attaches how to hook up to power and everything. I'm 17 so please try not to use complicated lingo because i most likely won't understand it. Help, links what ever is very well needed. Pictures if possible how to take off the dash and such. I am keeping the old CD player i didn't by an aftermarket one so it's the stock one. The subs will be in a box as well. Help please.

I purchased a Hi Lo LOC converter and the radio harnesses so I dont have to cut into the oem wires. Got the AMP kit. So we just need a weekend to get it done.
Others have attached the LOC to the rear speakers in the trunk.

I did a search here and there's more than a 1/2 dozen threads doing the same
with step by step instructions on how they did there installs.

That does help get me get started i have a few friends who know stuff about this just rather not have an mistakes made if you know what i mean. I rather do it with them then have to pay for someone to because prices are outrageous. Any or links or such will be greatly appericated thanks.

Okay Here's a few pointers about the Forum. As you notice there's a whole DIY (Do It Yourself) on the question you asked and it is "Sticky"d which means it will more than likely always be at the top of the page cause it's a very common Topic, meaning a bunch of people have asked the same question. The other arrow is pointing to the "Search" Function, all you have to do is type in "Yaris sedan amp install " and it'll pop up a few threads on what you're looking for.


Okay Second is you want to go through the DIY and then let us know if you have a question, Be specific. We like to know the Brand Speaker you're using, Model Speaker. For example Tell us 12 inch Kicker CVR or Kicker Solobaric, Please also note the power Handling and RMS of the sub. If you don't know Google and do a bit of research.

From there tell us about your amp : For Example a Kicker 500.1 and list your power ratings on the amp if not give us a model number. We can Help you out a bit and tell you if you're going to severely under power the sub and possibly damage it.

Knowing what type of amp will also help on the Gauge Power Wire you're using. You may as well use a good Gauge wire so if you decide in the future to switch amps, you won't need to change out the power wire.

So on your next post Please fill in the blanks :

Amp - Brand - Model Power Rating

Subwoofers - Brand - Model - Power Handling

Wiring - Gauge Wire - Brand

Box - Sealed - Ported - Bandpass

Then we can better assist you .


P.S I know you said don't use complicated lingo but we're trying to teach you. Unless you don't want to learn then that's a whole different story.

Watch this video First. You'll need to do this upgrade if not you're gonna be dimming the hell out of your headlights and possibly mess up some of your other electrical components in your car.

You can build that wire kit for about 20 bucks to do this upgrade. You will eventually need a battery. I would do this before you install that system.

Yes I really don't wanna do the work but probably will have to. I can feel this is going to be a big pain already and is already costing me more than i allotted for. Is their any places i could bring my car to to get the big 3 taken care of for me?
Or where do i pick up the parts if i must do it my self?

Yes. If searching for information is too daunting a task, I don't think you can handle the install. Even though I despise audio shops, you can try some local I stall shops (gasp, you will have to SEARCH on google), or you can go to a generic place like Best Buy.

Dude like seriously? I'm asking for help and your being a total ass about it. Sorry I'm 17 with a life and I'm busy with sports and other elective activities. It's hard enough to find time for anything let alone installing a system in my car this is seaming to becoming farther from reach. I've done about 3 hours of research already and now their is so much more i have to buy and do. Non of my other friends went through all this trouble so why me? That's why i might have to pay someone to do it for me. Because I don't have a lot of time to deal with. If your willing to help me then please do but theirs no reason to be rude about the fact i want to do something with the limited time i have.

^uuuh I gave you a suggestion for an install place. There's nothing wrong with having a shop do the work for you, nor did I suggest it was a bad idea. I suggest you add English to your electives.

PS, if you think you're hard pressed for time now, you will be in for a nice surprise in about 10 years.

Personally, I think you're just trolling... You know what a thread bump is, but you can't search or find the sticky at the top of the forum.

This cannot be a real thread. But for some reason if it is, I did give you a suggestion. It is honestly helpful; as you don't want to attempt an install and be stuck with torn apart dash and no help.

What's the suggested price? I want to do most the work i can my self. I'll learn more and feel better about doing it just i need all the stuff first. if you wouldn't mind seeing if theirs a kit or something for the big three on line? or where to get it? plus what battery i will need. I don't want to over pay for a battery size i don't need. If you can find them and put a link up that would be awesome. I'm going to bed I've got school in the morning so thanks for anything you can do to help.
Edit: i did find it before had i downloaded it i just need the parts to arrive and stuff like that to come before i do that. I have little forum knowledge, but yes i do know that a bump will make the thread more active and their for put it at the top of the list. I did search some other than the amp wiring i didn't know how else to find things i need for the year of my car and such. I felt making a thread would be a lot fast and it is and more helpful. Less random posts to read and such it's all about what i need to know.

Post in there and see if there's somebody who lives near you or can suggest an audio shop who will do the install for you.

The install will take time and you want it done correctly. I'd hate to see the job done half assed and your car catch fire. But that's your decision.

Like that amp is going to need a Mono Signal ran to it. I know you just said " wtf " did he just say. So to go into further detail about your install will be very difficult with lack of basic knowledge. It'll take hours of research and time, which you don't have alot of with your school schedule and extra curricular activities.

An Audio shop will probably charge you about 125 bucks to do the install. It'll probably take about 2-4 hours.

It's all up to you to do the Big 3. Maybe your buddies didn't do much research so they don't know, we're just trying to share knowledge and past experiences. You can hook it up regular but at nite i can guarantee your lights will be fading when the bass hits.

I went to autozone and got there Gold series battery for my yaris and paid 100 bucks, has a 7 year replacement warranty. My ideal choice would be a Kinetic Battery but them will run around 200 dollars.

I'll post later on in the evening, I'm actually working on a family members audio system today and then detailing the vehicle. You'll have a reply later this evening or in the morning, And i'll get you links to buy wire for the Big 3. Is ordering off ebay and Amazon a big problem for you ? Or another site like Sonic Electronics ?

And you don't ever plan on installing a cd player in your vehicle ? Correct ? You can get a decent one at Best buy for 100 - 125 bucks .

On my next post they will just be suggestions. Everybody has there own opinion on Brands. If you don't like the brands i suggest then get something similar, They're just going to be examples if anything else. You'll start to see a certain degree of bias towards certain brands.

I have a line output converter that i need to add but can some one help me figure out how to add it. I got the system and ran all wires and all that but how to i book up line output converter? it is a soschce and how to i make the amp turn on when power to car or radio is on? is it the remote wire and where do i put it at in factory stereo?

It may not be obvious, but nobody is replying because these topics have all been covered exhaustively in other threads. Days are going by when you could have gotten an answer by spending 5 minutes using the search button. The only help I'm willing to provide you at this point is to enter three words into the site search: amp wire running.
Hint hint, it's a sticky, meaning that it's at the very top of the page of the specific section you should be looking at, ANYWAY.

I would be so inclined to just help you, but the whole attitude of "I'm too busy with my busy life of busy sports and and busy school to waste 5 minutes searching for a thread, but I'll waste 20 minutes coming back repeatedly to bump a thread" put me off just a little.

Anyway, the DIY is a far better guide, since super-awesome dude made a page-by-page guide covering the whole thing. Plus, that thread has multiple posts addressing the exact issue of installing a Line Out Convertor.

Man i've been busy , between Gears of War 3 and putting a system together for a family member, i haven't had time to look for the other things you asked for.

LOC = Line output converter - Goes connected to your rear 6x9's

To turn the amp off and on you need to run it to a source that turns on and off when you turn your car off and on. These are commonly known as your ignition wire. But since you're not using an aftermarket deck you'll have to find the fuse associated with the ignition and run the wire off there. I don't know if they make a Maxi fuse holder like this where the wire is connected to the holder then the fuse slides inside of the holder.

What load are you going to run your subwoofers ? They are Dual Voice Coil if i remember correct. And your amp is a one channel .

Thanks S7V7N, You've been a big help. I managed to finish it but the line out converter is hooked up weird and not really hooked up at all i bought 2 because the first failed to work. I'll try to put a picture up soon of how it's hooked up maybe some one can tell if it's safe or how else to hook it up. For power i added a switch to my remote wire, drilled a hole in my mini glove box to insert switch into then ran a ground to back to ground it because switch is lighted. As for Djct Watt not only are you useless for help i already said i got the amp wiring thread from here already and its not for my year of car i know the basics i'm not a dumb ass. I just couldn't find where it showed how to insert a line output converter. Probably because it didn't show how. Some people just talked briefly about it nothing with where wires go or nothing. No where else online could i find it either.
