when do I change tranny fluid?

2007 yaris 130K normal usage (no dirt roads) when is it suggested to change the transmission fluid/filter?

I was always taught to change automatic trans fluid every 50k miles, or when it smells burnt / is darker. i also change the filter every time i change fluid.

same thing for manual. except no filter. that reminds me, gotta change all the fluids in mine, just bought her.
