curb rashed one of my new wheels. crap.
Oh well, new single wheel on order :biggrin:, and I guess I will
have a scuffed spare now...and new found interest in NOT
trying to squeeze my Yaris in places I could with the OEM wheels :laugh:
live and learn (and flush 150 bucks down drain) :redface:
*I am not a fan of trying to polish or repair an aftermarket alloy
and use it as a daily driver. I've seen too many metal fatigue cracks
in my days...overall better to just wise up and eat the cost of a new one

I dunno, like 40 bucks I guess ? I never bought one before.
I scraped a new aftermarket alloy,
the rim sticks out and will hit curbs before the sidewall

I'd bet that the $150 aftermarket wheel is cheaper than an OEM one.

I have ONE aftermarket alloy wheel that I now have a scuff mark on, so I am
buying ONE new identical aftermarket alloy wheel to replace it. They are 150 bucks
each. they are JWL and VIA rated wheels.
I do NOT operate with scuffed wheels, or curb rash.

+1, try $300-400 each unless you're getting used.
WTF ? these are daily drivers. $400 each wheels are not good for daily driving
where I live, they are best for show or racing. I am not one who is duped into the belief that I have to pay that much for a single rim to get some mysterious unobtainable performance with the car or the ladies...I am just getting a good VIA wheel to replace one I stupidly scraped up.

That's the real bling...bitches. sheesh
I'm all for aftermarket, was just saying, the OEM's are expensive on any car.

I was replying to the 5 posts about OEM wheel costs, never said you scuffed an OEM.

sorry, I have a big case of crankiness, with specific things, such as posts which 'assume too much' and deviate from the OP. it's deep in my bones, and it will never stop. what I have to do, is suppress it, and some leaked out from me today.
cliff notes: I got a new wheel and I scraped it up and that blows but I am just gonna solve things by sucking it up and getting a replacement because if an alloy wheel is not 100% I don't want it on my rig because (a) looooks like arse and (b) anyone with any high performance sense knows that in each and every circumstance when an alloy or mag wheel gets lateral damage, whether road rash or worse...deep down you cannot know for sure a microscopic crack will or will not develop so I cannot trust this wheel to (c) last the duration of how long I roll with it and (d) not just leave me stranded with an air leak after nailing a pothole at 80mph or higher therefore it makes the best sense in all possible interpretations of safe driving to get a new wheel pronto and dump this one to scrap heap for my 3 bucks in melt down cost.

I know how it feels. I've got some curb rash on mine. After a few days from the incidences (yes I scuffed more than one on more than one occasion) the anger is gone along with the desire to fix it/replace it.

i feel your pain. i curbed 2 wheels while parking at a curb in a rush, and had to flush money for both rims. i have 2 spare rims now! one has a 2cm scratch at the lip but that will urk me so had to get it. :P

i feel your anger dear OP, for $150/ wheel it's better to get the new one instead of fixing it, because It'll cost you about the same amount.... but let say you have a higher end wheel like mine on my other car ( HRE's ), I will fix it instead getting a new one.
it's your money ...spend what you like.. people here is trying to help, so don't be mad at them :wink:
I use to be super anal about things like that too, but nothing is perfect ...
