View Full Version : Who needs air vents
Hi Guys,
Today i fitted a GPS Speed limit and speed camera detector.
I looked at a few different option of products i wanted something that once you buy was cheap to update, but small enough to custom fit, so i went for the MY SPEED AURA, £129.99 + £10 per year for speed limit updates.
i hate having things on the dash or windscreen. Took a bit of modification to get it in and used a perspex sheet to cover the unit.
Its all set up so don't need to press any buttons, and to update the unit a have hard wired the cable behind the glove box so i can simply unplug the usb from the charger and plug it in the laptop to update it every few months
Here is the end result, what do you think?

hahaha! do u have a DIY on this? makes me wanna do it on my other cars now.. lol
Every car will be different in terms of where you will put the unit, its a simply hard wire with a 12v charger behind the dash so it comes on/off with the ignition.
You would need one of these for charging

Nice. is it just me or the speed of the gps speed limit doesnt match the speedometer reading? i think it is off by 4-5 miles short?

when you said you have it wired so you don't have to press any buttons.. did you mean on/off or were there other operations with the other button

I'm not a fan, simply because it takes away the vent which is crucial where I live. I respect the work though, it came out great.

If your refering to the video then yes you are correct, All car speedos are out by around 10% so every 10mph you are out by 1mph, so if your doing 70mph on GPS you would be doing 77mph on the speedo. in the UK if your speeding Police have to give 10% + 1mph so in a 50mph you could do 56mph without being done for speeding. GPS is alot more accurate

there is other functions but ive set them up and will not need to alter then again, there is no battery in the unit so when the ignition is on the unit comes on and then when the car is turn off the unit goes off.

Thanks, Air con i guess as you live in cali. Well im from the uk so its cold most of the time i have the heater on 30 degress blowing on my feet and out every other vent. i have blocked the vent from the back so it just comes out the left vent quicker now.

Very nice. I was gonna say you should have put it behind the left vent... then I realized you're from the UK
Did you paint the cowl around the gauge cluster or is that a factory finish? I kinda like it shiny.
