is this normal? i believe this started when temperatures were around 30 F and below

also i accidentally drained my tank once back in december w/c im not sure if that had any adverse effects causing issue.

It is harder to start any car in cold weather.

oil is thicker in colder weather and battery doesnt have as many cranking amps in cold weather below freezing

mine too.

thanks guys. i heard of this with other cars generally but i thought we were immune. does synthetic oil help and higher end battery?

i did use a red optima battery in my previous car and i never had this issue.

had my 1st oil change already also but i see there's no bearing in this topic.

umm the yaris only requires one turn, and then let go the car does the rest (cranks)for you.

Sedan only. Err... automatics only?

All I know is mine doesn't do it.

EDIT: Liftbacks do it too... whoops.

Works in my LB too. Turn the key all the way back & let go... it was hard getting used to letting go at first!

whats the cca on the stock batt? bet a decent battery would solve the struggling to start issue, mine does that all the time.

Today, its been really really cold where I live like below 0 without windchill...anyway my car was outside overnight and I decided to bring it in the garage, man did it have a long turn over. Then when it was on the engine sounded like a diesel truck! It was awesome! I know its because its been sitting there and its really cold so its going to run/idle rough at first until it warms up. According to my scanguage the coolent temp was below 0! Although it warmed up fairly fast. I hate the cold and winter...That's my warm up story:laugh:

we got below O F too, the car doesn't crank more than during summer time... and the idle is normal. The only noticeable thing is the clutch pedal which is kind of stiffer. I use synthetic oil if that changes anything...

The synthetic oil does help alittle. So does a better oil filter,I just switched to TRD's version.
