Hi there, I'd like to start by saying that I am very limited in knowledge of vehicles/mechanics.

We've got a 2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan that has been sitting in the garage for approximately 1 year due to recent circumstances (I know its not good to let a car sit for so long). Recently I tried to get it started; not surprisingly the battery was dead. So I borrowed some jumper cables and got it running again.

First issue: The accelerator pedal will not let the motor rev past 1500 rpm!

Second issue: I managed to get it moving (very carefully), and it felt as if I
was hitting a bump in the road every two feet (as if there was a rock that was glued to the bottom of all four tires!?)

I realize I'll most certainly have to bring it in to Toyota, but I was just curious if anyone had any idea of what is happening, or maybe someone has had similar issues.

Thanks in advance,
Julien P.

The motor rev issue could be multiple things. Is there a Check Engine Light on? If you had the gas sitting for a year I would replace that first. Drain the tank and put new gas in. Gas deteriorates if it sits for extended periods of time.

Your tires have flat spots from sitting for so long, driving on them a little will make it better but they will not go away ever. You will have to replace the tires.

Thanks for your quick response! I'll have to check the yaris manual to see if I can locate the 'drain cock'.

Nothing wrong with putting a vehicle up on blocks if it will be stored for a long period of time.
