Hey all, yes it's me again! Still having same problems minus the stereo shorting out( so far). Dealer and complaint center said there was nothing that could be done! car still not starting half the time ,service said they still could find no problems!
Now I have another problem: the electric power steering warning light came on. I shut off the car for 10 minutes and it went off. on my way home it came on again. Please explain this. Why does this light come on? Is it in any way connected to the other problems I am having?
Thanks again for all the info you give me!

Well if it is a 2010 car, and still under warrenty, then I think it qualifies under MO's Lemon law... Do a google search for Missouri Lemon Law.

The PS light can come on for a few of reasons - Overheating of the electric PS system, sensor problem with the PS, lack of comm with the ECM, etc.
Based on your other thread and this one, it really sounds like someone needs to either replace the two dashboard harnesses or at least inspect them thoroughly for insulation damage at all mounting points of the harness. I suspect that your burning smell, radio issue, starting issue, and PS issue are all due to some harness damage.

I am looking in to that. I am just afraid of whats going to happen if I continue to drive it,and since I have no other vehicle then I have no choice!
what causes this warning light?

They keep telling me there is no problems with this car. Does any one know how long the lemon law take to replace the vehicle?

Unsure, But I would consider going to another Toyota dealer as well... just to get another set of eyes on this.
the Missouri AG has a bit on his website about all of this.
http://ago.mo.gov/ConsumerCorner/encyclopedia/lemon-law.htm
Years ago I had an issue with a Honda Minivan... and it took me going to the GM of the Honda dealer with a letter of intent to file a Lemon law for them to fix the issue.
I would do it ASAP, as you only have so long until your warrenty cuts out.

last night my yaris just quit! would not start, crank over or anything! I had it towed to the dealer. I was stranded! The reason I bought the car was to avoid this. Not very happy this morning! Now I wake up and see the recalls on the news about the crankshaft and power steering but yaris is not on the list. Could this be why my eps light came on?

Definitely not - The recall for the PS issue is for vehicles with hydraulic PS. The Yaris has electric PS.

There could be many causes - Low battery, blown fuse, damaged wiring, problem with the ECM, etc.
Did the cluster light up, but there was no response when you turned the key? If that is the case, did the radio turn off while you were holding the key in the crank position?

Unless the battery died overnight, Toyota will at least now have to admit there is a definite problem with your vehicle.

While it's in the shop, they should be able to tell you why the PS light came on, as the PS ECU will have a logged a DTC that they can read with the Toyota TechStream tool.

ok I so did not even understand any of that except ps= power steering, so my ps has some kind of chip that showed a code that was registered? Am I even close? If not hope I brought a smile or 2! No shaking of the head! Jeez I am completely car stupid!

Most of us are familiar with P???? codes associated with a check engine light. These can be read by anyone with an OBD II reader.
There are other systems on the car which are monitored and therefor trouble codes are logged whenever there is a failure. However, these systems are proprietary and can only be retrieved by a Toyota tech using what is known as TechStream tool.

A correct replacement sensor should have the mating connector to the connector of the pink and violet wires. Can you post a picture of what you have?
