This morning i was driving around town, then some idiots drove a big truck with stuff towed join the lane that i was at 45mph, the idiot was so fu*ing slow in front of me so i had to switch lane and pass him, then that punk honked at me for passin him, i was like WTF!!?? so i honked back, but i felt my horn was soooo weak, like beep.!^#!%#!(^#%!!!.. that pissed me off, so i went down to the import auto superstore in CA and got me the PIAA SPORTS HORN KIT, $49.99, went home and installed them myself (came with 2 )within an hour, my horn now sounds way louder than stock, and it made the car sound so much European...SOO next time some one honk at me, they are going to be surprised....ahahahha

Looks good!
Is it ok to have the wires exposed like that in front of the rad? What if they get wet?

Changed the stock horns out the first day I got my car. Mine are all black without stickers on them so they aren't very noticeable behind the grille unless you stared at it.

Hey Violin, or Yaris TTE JWRC (long name!)... I see you both have the 500/600 Hz horns. There is a 400/500 offering as well. I've tried to track down a recording of these horns, but can't find anything. Either of you feel like doing a quick video with the horn blaring? Maybe post here or on youtube? Thanks!

OK. I'll try to remember to record one today (after folks wake up). Give this thread a bump in a few days if I don't post up.
I chose the higher tone so as not to confuse other drivers. I figured a low tone would have people looking around for a larger car. It doesn't do much good to warn someone if they don't know where the warning is coming from.

Even the 500/600 sound lower than I thought they would. The 400/500 must sound quite low.

Just installed my PIAA 500+600 hrz and a FIAMM freeway horn Blaster (F) from Advance. YES that's three horns! Sounds much better than stock. Now people don't laugh when I hit my horn. They cover their ears...

How much electrical work is involved. I've got no problem screwing around with house wiring, but I've got a phobia about cutting into a car's (or motorcycle's). The motorcycle is easy, though, because in the end it is cheaper for Honda to pre-wire the thing for everything so everything I've added so far has been plug and play. No such luck with the Yaris, I'm guessing?

the piaa box says no wiring harness needed, probably a direct replacement, I hope so because I am planning to grab one

Thanks... so it looks like you drew power from the original wiring (split to both horns), then ran a ground to chassis behind the driver headlights. Glad that I don't need to put in a relay or pull power directly from the battery or anything (which would stop me dead in my tracks right there).
Have you encountered any problems with them since your install?

It's your call but I'd peel those stickers off or hit it with some black paint. It looks like you have some trash/highway debris jammed in your grill.
Otherwise.....Nice mod.

I was thinking the same. If I do buy the PIAA and not the Hella the stickers are coming off or getting painted black.

Yep - fairly simple install. No problems at all. I chose them over the Hellas because they are more weatherproof.

Just installed the Hella Supertones on my Yaris. I love them. They look cool, and are extremely loud. I hit the horn in my garage and almost went deaf. My ears were ringing like crazy. Didn't use the relay, just used the factory wiring except had to install some grounds. Got them from www.safedrives.com.

yeah, those look cool, I think I'll get the HELLA, I wonder how the trumpets sound, those are half the price and till 110DB, might have some mounting issues though can't tell, supertones it is

Yeah, for now I installed them kind of right next to eachother, but I eventually want to evenly space them out across the front end. I also have these installed on my WRX, have for about a year and a half, no problems at all.

Yeah mines 139db also. Have used it often and with extreme indiscretion.
As far as a DIY unplug and unbolt the stock Denso. Throw away. Bolt on the new horn.

goddamn, which brand is this? Single tone I'd assume if it is one horn, how's the pitch? That's a lot of DB's.
