View Full Version : Where are the 2012's already?

Thus far, I have only seen two '12 Yarii(?) in the flesh. Both were magnetic grey metallic.
I want to at least see the new colors so I can make my decision before I start getting the dealers to fight over my sale.
But this process of salesman gladiatorial combat cannot commence without the arrival of said 2012 Yarii. So, am I alone in the great state of Texas in not seeing these little cars show up in any reasonable numbers yet?
Does anyone know when they will start arriving in force? The CS rep on Toyota's CS phone line knows nothing about when the cars will start really hitting the lots.
Does anyone know anything? There are only two 2012's within 100 miles of me. Sound off about if you have these cars in your state, or, if you are just as frustrated as I am.

Talk to a dealer. The one that I popped into last week was able to pull up their delivery schedule to let me know when they would be getting some of the other colors and packages.

while cars.com is not always dead accurate, it is usually pretty close. it's a good way to search a large area for inventory.

I have talked to three dealers, they can't even tie their shoe laces correctly. They just give me this stupid look when i ask them: :iono:

I will look at this right now and see when more '12 Yarii are arriving, thank you Roxy.

The vehicle carrier NOCC Caspian, was docked at the Toyota Logistics Service dock at Pier B in Long Beach, and the vehicles were being unloaded on October 21, 2011, at around 6:00 PM West Coast time. The ship has a capacity of about 12,000 cars and had already made stops in Vancouver, BC and Portland, OR and offloaded cars at both ports. They offloaded the majority of the cars at this port, and they began their movement East.
Mine arrived at the dealer in Lakewood, Colorado, on November 7, I took delivery on November 10, 2011. So depending on how far you are from the West coast will determine when your dealer will get them on his lot.

North Carolina has a pretty decent amount around; my local dealer has 3 on the lot and each of the immediate area dealers (within a 100 mile radius) have at least the same amount on their lots.
The best looking one I've seen in the flesh was an LE in Lagoon Blue Mica and it was stunning. Can't wait to see more SEs in the area though.

Kent, you know your stuff man. I remember reading that production in Japan started in August, so I was wondering what the holdup was. I'm just impatient, that's all. My time (and car) will come. There is no shortage on a new car.

That color is in the running for finalist. I just need to see it in person and compare it with magnetic grey metallic (seen it already, very sharp), and blazing blue pearl (haven't spied one yet). All the '12's I have seen have been in the magnetic grey metallic.
I can't wait to start seeing these babies in the wild, hunting high MPGs on the streets...

Test drove a L auto today, Overall way nicer then an ECHO! Odd stuff: no seat belt height adjuster, tilt wheel doesn't go as high, my legs were nearly hitting the bottom with it all the way up. Seat feels a tad to high. And mirrors have to be adjusted outside. I'm 6' tall 190lbs for reference. And this dealer would not deal on price. Only 200 off msrp.

If you are willing to travel for your Toyota, go to Carmax. They don't dicker with the price, but they have a good price and no lowlife salesmen who have failed at everything in life except lying and selling cars. You know your price walking in the door and if you can resist all the extended warranties, that price is the real price.

Ah, but they don't sell new cars. They only sell used, right? I'm in it for a 2012 Yaris, with no options, manual trans, 3-door body style, and no former owner's abuse.
Plus, I want to experience the awesomeness of "new car smell" for once with MY own car.

Then jump on it, man! If they are in your area in the spec/trim you want, then by all means...Get your 2012 on!
I'll be there in a couple of months, just want to have a very large down payment and the college grad $1k rebate. I can't just leave $1k on the table. :smoking:

I now have just over $6k sitting in the bank with no home. I will sell my Ninja in December for $2k (someone I know already wants it), plus the $1k grad rebate.
Ideally, I want to have $10k down altogether, as I want sub-$100/month payments for the life of the loan...which will be paid off within 2 years or less, anyway. But still, I hate debt with a passion.
I'd pay cash for this car if I had it at the ready.

The beauty of their website is that provide you good printout of what you can ask another dealer for. I did that on my Yaris. I was set to drive to North Chicago and buy my Yaris but emailed all the local Toyota dealers that I was about to drive to buy my Yaris and could they at least match the deal that Carmax was giving.
Butler Toyota in Indianapolis emailed back that they had the same color but had a few more options but would give me the car for the same price. I actually got a better deal.
So use the website to find out what a good discount is and use it to your advantage with another dealer.

Just talked to a progressive.com agent for an hour about the yaris. He apparently has a 2009 and loves it. The new car is going to cost me 16 more a month over my 2001 echo for the same amount of coverage.

It's slightly more complicated than the Echo, I would think. Therefore, parts would be slightly more expensive in the event of an accident, hence, a slightly higher premium.
Still a great value.

Hello,
New to the forum. I just traded my 2011 Prius II off. The reasons for this are many and if you want to know I can expand on it.
I purchased a Classic Silver 5 dr SE last night. I have several initial thoughts and will post more as I get used to the car and its functions.
Bluetooth Pairing is the easiest I have performed on any car I have owned/rented. My iPhone connects and disconnects seamlessly. Toyota got this right! If I am listening on my headphones to a podcast or audio book, the transition from headphones to car and back just work. Something that was not good with the BluLogic module on my Prius.
My wife had an 2007 Yaris 3 dr. The difference in fit and finish and associated refinements are noticeable and provide for a better driving experience. And there were no major complaints about the 07...my wife misses the car and regrets selling it.
The SE suspension 'sport tuning' IS noticeable. The stabilizer bar is a welcomed edition.
Looking forward to the availability of lowering springs from Eibach or other maker.
16" wheels are tasteful and will not need to be removed immediately-I will keep them for a while.
I miss all the extra glove box like storage of my wife's old 2007. There is a nice cubby in the upper left portion of the dash that will hold a smart phone.
I am still trying to get used to the "Angry Red" dash illumination.
Looking forward to getting to know the Yaris community.
