I am becoming one. It started as Christmas gifts and give aways, now has
gotten out of control...

Not only have I been ordering a lot of different and well engineered LED flashlights...


I am having a custom one built by the guy who built these:

I am, but not of the fancy variety like those. My addiction is a leftover from my days in the military. On any given day I will have at least 5 or more flashlights of a wide variety on me or in the bag I carry. Everything from those little iNova microlights (in red as to not kill my night vision) to iTP SC1 Eluma (http://www.amazon.com/ITP-Light-SC1-Strobe-Flashlight/dp/B0037UV5LS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&m=AMCCGH3BJHZB5&s=generic&qid=1270487660&sr=1-9) that only takes one CR123 battery, is brighter than hell (190 lumens at full strength!) and has adjustable settings to include a strobe.

I've also picked out a couple iNova 24/7 (http://www.inovalight.com/247/)s, which are very versatile. I keep one in the Jeep and another attached to the outside of my daily bug out bag (along with the above iTP SC1 Eluma). I like the different options, from low to bright white light, red light (again, for night vision), an SOS flash, a multi-colored strobe and a slow, alternating two-color flash. There is also a very slow, dim flash mode so you can use it to mark a location in very dark conditions.

I have the same obsession with knives, usually I've have about the same number of them on/with me as well...

I used to own an Inova X5 approx 10 years ago. http://www.inovalight.com/x/techspecs_x5.php It was blinding white led light at 31 Lumens.

But the $149.95 torch you link is InSaNe!

Hmmm whilst you could light up a neighbourhood, not very practical. Cool for sure.

At the moment I just use a cheap led torch I got from my gas station for $10. But after seeing this thread I think I know what my next purchase will be.

This is what I use on a daily basis for my profession. Ive had it for about 2 years i drop it probably once a week. And the rechargeable battery still holds a charge fine. My opinion the best flashlight for the money.

I bought the three pack flashlight from Costco (I believe they use CREE LEDs). Good enough for me since it's brighter than a headlight on some cars. LOL

Although it goes through batteries pretty fast =(

i've upgraded every older flashlight in our house with led bulbs. it started when we needed new lights for our christmas tree last year and the wife bought some 'pure white' sylvania leds. at first i didn't like them, but they grew on me. now i can't look at any bulb in our house(or yaris) without wondering 'do they make an led version of that?'. i'll only buy lights from now on with led already in them, but it was cheaper for me to buy just the replacement kits since i already have the flashlights and i don't believe in throwing something away that still works.

the conversion kits i use are made by nite-ize and they make ones for maglite minimags(2AA) to any standard C or D cell(from 2-6 batteries). in fact, the last one i did was an old 2D that we keep in the nightstand. the duracells had been in this flashlight for over 10 years and the light was starting to dim. i put in http://www.amazon.com/LRB-07-PR-Upgrade-Replacement-D-Battery-Flashlights/dp/B0013LKFVO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326116836&sr=8-2 and now it's brighter and uses a fraction of the wattage as the old bulb - all without touching the batteries!

I have a NiteIze with pushbutton for a Mag AA upgrade, keep it on my nightstand. used it to replace the Opalec upgrade it had before.

-ZebraLight H501 is my headlamp
-Brinkman crappy headlamp-it works, old LED tech though

-3 pack of LumenMaster from Costco is my pile-o-bright lights I don't care about, have these stashed around the house, wicked bright wicked cheap
-Thrunite Ti Firefly, might become my EDC light
-Mag 3 D cell is for bashing burglars
-Niterider Trinewt for MTB headlight
-Niterider Mi-Newt for road
-Dinotte 140L taillight for the bike (very very very bright rear light)
-PlanetBike superflash taillight for the bike (not as bright as dinotte, it's a backup in case I don't use the dinotte, or the dinotte dies)

Bwahahahaha! I just noticed this comment. I have a X5 as well, I think it was the first iNova flashlight I bought because of its excellent white light! :w00t:

It still works well and is just as bright as the first day I got it! :headbang:
