View Full Version : Lexus badging (stupid idea???)
I was thinking of doing something funny.
I was thinking that if the toyota badge and the lexus badge was the same size, I could just swap out my toyota badge for a lexus one. I was thinking about painting it a flat black so it wouldn't be but so prominent.
I have two questions:
-is this even doable (size and mounting)
-is this just stupid.
honestly I think it is kind of funny but that is just my weird humor maybe.
***edit***
I was thinking of this on the two exterior badges (front and rear)

Stupid... but I can see the humor in it... so I'm... undecided?
Personally think its stupid, just reminds me of when people put BMW emblems on their lower end cars. I realize Lexus is made by Toyota - but a Yaris is not a Lexus.

I think it would be funny actually.
Hardly anyone knows what the Yaris is anyway, it would just further confuse them.

definite no on this Ive seen one to many low end cars that either swap emblems and add super tacky chrome badging that spell out stupid sayings. plus half the time people do it themselves and they dont even put it on straight. But on the other hand its your car and to each man his own so if you like it then do it. just know that there might come some ridicule so be ready to deal with it. What I would do is a vitz badge swap. That would look clean

its been done before by someone in thailand. All black lexus badge on black liftback yaris, lowered, aggessive stance, and rs lamps......yes, it looked alright in my opinion.

If you want to do something to confuse people and be unique, but still proper, I say Netz badges. (available at Micro Image )

Just giving hope to OP that there is someone else in the world out there who drives w/ that look.
True, it kind of reminds me of this guy down my street 3 mins away. He took a CRX hatchback and put an Integra front look on the front, lights, bumper, everything~

Vitz badge will STILL confuse people up until this day.
I had a guy approach me while i was sitting in my car waiting for a friend. Saw him in the rear view mirror snapping pics w/ his cell phone and then approach me.
Just go w/ a simple setup and natural stock look. <-- my advice.
Do it. Make it a CT 150. Or an IS 150 SportCross. 1/2 the price, double the MPG

@ OP: People in Japan rebadge the Vitz as a Yaris like a recent pic like this - http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/photo/000/002/944/071/2944071/p1.jpg

kinda funny how people over-seas re-badge them as a yaris! Personally i find that the name yaris is kind of goofy. Vitz is way better.

If you do it, well then thats cool. But at least try to confuse everyone by installing
the badge upside down so it looks like a big ''7''.
Garranteed to raise some questions. Great conversation piece.

HAHA, I just made this joke to my girlfriend yesterday. As we drove by the lexus dealership.
I'm sticking with my blacked out sombreros. But if you do it, can't wait to see pictures! I like the idea of flipping them and making them 7's!

Lots of "Lexus" over here... from Hilux pickups to Commuter vans... Once saw a van with a Lexus badge up front and a Scion in the back :iono:
I'd say put a Lexus badge ONLY if you do your car PROPERLY as a mini-VIP... re-done interior with electric seats swapped out of a proper Lexus, for instance... Then make a YS150 badge for the back too. But then I'd only see that working on a sedan, not so much a hatchback. And swap a V6 into it too, so it won't be too laughable
Kaotic Lazagna
01-23-2012, 03:11 AM
LOL. You know what, I plan on going with a VIP-style theme in the future (white pearl paint, still deciding on which manufacturer, leaning towards Lexus or Cadillac), and redoing the interior (window curtain, the works). And just for fun, I was thinking about having a Lexus badge and "IS150" made and run it like that for a month to see what reactions I will get. LOL.

yeah that tends to happen here. you post some silly idea and it stirs up alot of opinions. In any case thats exactly what all these are, opinions so if you want to do it then do it! Its your car and nobody can ever say your car looks dumb if you think its not.
Yep, I don't like it because it's not accurate - but if you do - go for it!
It's ur $$ n nobody business. For me, I won't do it .... I even took out all the emblems on my real AMG car ... But hey it's just me ... The cleaner the better
you can't just take the emblems off of the yaris, it leaves a place on the body work. if it were clean, I would just do that....I could take off the yaris logo but the toyta symbol would leave a weird place.
^ Body kits. Problem solved

01-23-2012, 06:51 PM
@ BEEF - why dont you use bondo filler (?) to fill in that outline of the rear emblem? A lot of people have taken out their rear wiper and filled/sanded the hole and made it look clean.
Time is all you need to make it look good.
Good luck.

Never thought of that method just seems like a lot of possible mistakes though
Kaotic Lazagna
01-23-2012, 09:13 PM
I believe that's what most places would do, bondo or fiberglass it. It's a tedious job tho if you want it done right. Prep work, and sanding it down smooth and flowing with the hatch is what's going to take up most of your time.

or get a cool skull emblem from MI ;)
I saw the skull emblem. I am really thinking about the NETZ emblem. take off the yaris emblem and leave the NETZ one. i do have a bumper protector that has yaris embossed in it though. it would still be different.
I tried body work on my other car and it didn't really go too well. I didn't care because it is my beater but don't want to do it on a new(ish) car. my skills are very lacking.

You can change it if you want, but I, personally, would not do it unless as others have mentioned it's truly transformed: full leather and classy trim interior, understated but sporty body kit, full suspension and supercharger/exhaust setup... Anything else and I would feel like it's the same as putting fake vents on your hood,or NOS stickers on the back, or god-help-us gold plated emblems and a body kit with a tiny stock exhaust buzzing out of a giant coffee can chrome tip...
well, I'm kind of abandoning this since money just got tight. didn't know that heating oil was so expensive. been a while since I had to deal with it.
if I do venture into something like this it will probably be the netz badging.

If you're going to put a Lexus bage on it, why stop there? How about V-8, turbo powered badges... etc.
