Yaris 2007 Hatchback with 78,000 Miles.

Okay so Ive had this problem for quite a while now where my Yaris brakes squeek and when I go into reverse and brake, it makes this weird and loud click sound. So i got new ceramic brake pads, got my rotors re-surfaced, replaced my rear shoes(w/e that means) and a few other things. I know im an idiot but i Paid $370 for all this and idk if that is a good price or not but from searching the internet and what not I seem to have overpaid. I know, im an idiot lol.

Anyways, my new brakes seem fine but when i come to a complete stop it makes this weird and deep squeek/squel( its kind of saying "doo" with a really deep voice) and idk if this is normal or not. Can you guys be of assistance, i already think i overpaid and idk if this is normal or not.

Gahhhd im so dumb. :iono:

It's making that noise because the pads are new and it's gripping. Imagine Running your finger over a newly washed dish that's still wet. That's your brakes coming to a stop. When you finger hits the drier stuff it makes that squeak. That's what your brakes are doing as they get slower, they make a grippy deep squeak. I hope that made sense.

What about the price? is paying $370 for this normal or overpaid?

That's definitely a bit expensive.

Damn, i knew i was taken advantage of. I should've went price hunting before justfiying on one place. Damn car shops.

Thanks for some good info, hopefully this squel will go away in a few days.

May take longer than a few days. I got new rotors and pads at least 4 months ago and it still makes a small squeak right before I stop

Yeah but when i brake to a complete stop, it does this little grind that i could actually feel.

Hopefully this goes away when in the few coming weeks. I already overpaid, i just want to be happy with my car.(Sorry for the rant)

the Loud Click that you hear is because the rotors are loose and not screwed to the hub
those screws are not necessary nothing to worry about

if the lugnuts are tight, the rotor should not be loose!
