YES! Of all the people they COULD have asked to buy it they chose ME! :headbang:
But if they think Im spending $20k they have something else coming.
^ seriously though...you are looking to buy it? trade the Yaris in?

Its probably too much money for me to buy it.
At this time.
I predict the iQ will end up like the SmartCar down at my local MB dealer. They have new 08s down there unsold.
The iQ has too big an engine, weighs too much, doesnt get the mpgs and costs too much for me to consider it to be my ideal car.
That would be 800cc, 1500 pounds, 50mpg (in town) and sub $12k.
Anyone remenber the Subaru 360 Van?

+1 on that. also practicality loss is too much in my opinion, Yaris is small, but I can still have my wife, kids and weekly groceries in it at the same time.

Garm's got one of those, I think. Someone on here does. With youtube video's of their 0-50 times haha. I've sat in 360's before and that was enough to kill my comfort levels. maybe the vans would be a little different :)
I actually test drove it in mid december
the local dealer had it for a day, when i went for some parts the salesman offered me a test drive
i really like the interior but the engine is a bit weak the yaris pulls better, i don't know if the problem is the cvt tranny tho

Last night I drove the iQ. Its definately a Smart beater. Theres a much more substantial area to store things under the hatch. The test drive included a stretch of freeway so acceleration was adequate if a little less than the Yaris. Not a problem. The thing that stands out about the car is its presence. It feels like a much bigger car. You completely forget you are driving a minicar.
I wish the car WAS more insubstantial. I want the 1 liter engine. The car need not come off as a Corolla. I would trade the substantial feeling for a car that weighed 1600 pounds. It would get a lot better than 37 mpg then. I used to drive 65 Beetles that had 40 horse engines and acceleration wasnt a problem for me.
Although I think the iQ is the car of the future I doubt the future is now. The iQ is EXACTLY targeted as the Smart car was. An upscale minicar. Just a year ago the dealer selling them had like 20 of them on its lot. A lot of them were new 08s.
The starting MSRP is $15,300. This car had $2000 worth of options so it was ~$17,000. Looking at the projected pipeline the dealer says all the cars he could see coming were optioned like this one. No $15,000 IQs. In contrast a five door Yaris was MSRPd at $16,000.

i seen a orange one two weeks ago inside the dealership when i was buying my 2012 magnetic grey 3 door. i didn't sit in it but just from the looks of it, that thing is WAYYY to tiny for my taste.
To me this will be one of those cars that has a small following. not everyone likes it , but a small portion will think its the bad ass little car.

Just test drove one this morning. Fantastic little car. Couple thoughts:
Bigger than I thought on both the exterior and interior. Just about as wide as my 09 Yaris.
I like that I'm "UP" when driving, providing an excellent view.
TURNS ARE FANTASTIC.
Seems very stable. So much that I'm wondering why people need the Sway Bar.
So much safety equipment!
It does not have a lot of pep. But I knew that.
Drove her on a snowy day. Seems iffy in the snow, drove the 16" wheel.
Financially it makes no sense. You can get more car for the same money but, again, I knew that going into this.
Overall I was very impressed. VERY TORN. I like leasing a vehicle so this would be a lease. Financially it makes more sense to buy my Yaris outright.

Does it really seat 4 people?

Does it really seat 4 people?
No. Theres only room behind the front passanger seat for a rear passanger.Behind the drivers there no foot room for a passanger.
There IS room for storage under the hatch unlike the Smart which has nearly no storage space at all.
I would imagine you would have a hard time selling an IQ should that become necessary.
