I am kind of stupid because I fully relayed on Toyota dealership service parts sales person as I have changed my car's (Yaris 2007 S Sedan) engine oil for the first time by myself. That idiot sales person looked at the computer for engine oil type for Yaris 2007 and gave me W20 oil instead of W30. And I fully trusted him and didn't looked at the manual or cap until I used it. Later I realized that my Yaris specifically asked to use W30.

Now I am very worried if my engine will react differently or it would break down or something, as I read in some threads but in some thread it says it wouldn't matter much. Please advice what should I do?

Thanks!!

I'm sure you'll be fine, but if it worries you that much just drain it and refill with 5w30.

Yes, I am thinking to do that but dealer service dept. is close today as it's Sunday. And all weekdays I have to work. So wondering I can drive all week with w20 oil and change it next weekend. Will it be fine?

Thanks so much for prompt response and good advice.

Actually, Toyota recommends using 5W-20 now, instead of 5W-30. There was a TSB on the recommendation.

I don't know that'd I go that far, the TSB I saw has a note:

NOTE:
The recommended viscosity grade for this oil differs according to vehicle model.
Use the recommended grade specified on the oil filler cap or in the Repair Manual
or Owner’s Manual for each vehicle.

For our cars, there's very little difference between the two grades of oil.

I run 20w50....the same weight used since this car was new. This car drives several times the average amount of miles most people drive, most of which is on a hot So Cal day. 20w50 may be a little much for people who drive less and are in consistently cooler climates.

The 5w-20 will be fine . Toyota oil is of very good quality . Even if it's the conventional . Here's a recent used oil analysis from our 2008 sedan using Shell full synthetic 5w-20 (SN) . http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38135 .

Oh well, did you checked the PDF file on the page that I added in my previous post? Toyota officially stated that model starting from 2006 year can use W20 for better engine performance and fuel efficiency...so after viewing that TSB I am very much relieved.
