So I get this exhaust rattle at low rpms 5-600rpm at idle with engine at normal operating temp

I went to a garage, lifted the car. Removed 2 loose heatshields and the rattle was still present

We managed to get rid of the sound by pulling downwards the 2 brackets that support the exhaust with rubber

It seems like the sound is was coming from the inside of the car which doesn't seem to be damaged (no scratches or visible damage)

It still does it but very slightly barely noticeable

I refuse to think that the cat is dieing on me the car has only 60000miles

Any suggestions?

Haven't checked that out But the sound is more like metal

Like you would hit a glass with a spoon slightly :S

Only does it when engine is at low rpm

found the problem
it was the doughnut gasket right after the header
it was so thin that it was vibrating at the connection where the 2 bolts with the springs are vibration was going trough all over the exhaust pipe

The donut gasket is a common thing to go.
They're about $60 with spring kit at the dealer... vs $20 on eBay (search ExhaustDirect or exdperformance).
