I think this is the direction I want to head... and from what I've read so far, it should be relatively simple to do on the yaris.
Anyone been there done that, any tips/ideas/where to buys?

I have bagged many trucks and a couple cars... is should be no problem to bag a yaris
Rears are going to be cake, but fronts are going to be a bit tricky
we would have to order some of these

plumbing should not be that bad, and I would stash the compressor out side and have a nice chrome tank on the inside...

Hell yeah I am game, I have plenty of friends around here that have built custom air rides with me. We also have a couple places we can get air ride parts here in Toledo

Airbag suspension is very interesting, (especially with the pothole-city status of many roads here), but how does it "feel" compared to normal springs and dampers? I mean, is it a bouncy kind of ride, is it suited to a sporty driving style? Or is it strictly for show/daily driving use?
Black Yaris

It makes her ride like a dream, no extra bouncy, you are still running shocks and struts, All you are basicly doing is replacing the springs with an airbag.

adjustable suspension is definitely the solution for driving on really shatty roads/the winter...
Best of both worlds, drop as low as possible on a nice day in the summer, raise it up for snow/steep driveways/etc.
I'm all over it if the $ can get reasonable... I just need to sell my 22's: http://thecaraudiobox.com/graphics/blazers10/22svs15s.jpg
I've heard of bag'd setups capability of being super cheap, which is the goal here :)

Every bag set up I have done has been relitivly cheep. Most expensive part is going to be the custom Air struts for the front, only because they just do not make em yet.... we can get the rear bags, lines, connectors here in town, we can fab up the rear cups here as well. We can buy a cheep tank and compressor online. Or we can just say fuck it and get this whole set-up from airbagit.com

no fuggits here, lol... that gets $
How expensive is expensive for the struts? The rest from minimal fleabaying I've seen very cheap.
The whole concept seems so simple its almost "too" easy.

perhaps for the front:
http://www.airbagit-store.com/product.asp?returnURL=default.asp&ID=95899
and an accumulator?
It looks like this could piece together super cheap, if those nasty $500 custom struts weren't there :)
edit: looks like after the brackets and all that good stuff its not cheaper enough to make it worth it :(

Build your own system... plus $1000 is less than most sets of coilovers

I have not found one complete system for less then a Grand...
Most of the ones I found were for the 02-06 Yaris and they were around 1,400... the same price for most Coilovers...
I thought the Air Bag was supposed to be the cheap way of doing it?

You may not be looking in the right spot then... I can get most of the stuff here in town:Rear bags ($75/pair), lines and connectors ($50)... All I need to buy online is Tank ($75) Compressor ($125), valves ($150),and switches/gauge ($25) I have not figured out what do do for the front struts, but worse case $500 for custom struts
There is a grand... and I am going on the highside for some of that stuff... everything else I can fab up.
Also... Reasons Air ride is better than Coilovers
1. Ride Quality
2. Easier to adjust ride height (no crawling under your car to adjust sleaves)
3. Sounds hella cool when you purge the bags to lay it out
4. You can adjust ride height according to road concisions on the fly

IS there a place one of us could contact to see if we can donate one of our cars to have one built?
Is there a Vendor out there that might Sponsor one of Us??????

Reasons Coilovers are better than balloons
1. Handling quality, driving performance, better traction
2. Improves acceleration through proper weight transfer
3. Correctly adjust ride height (for optimal weigh distribution)
4. Look "hella cool" when you lap Homie Gee MoneyDawg and his balloons for springs

the goal is to get it under 800, I think it can be done :)
adjusting ride height is my goal!
I'm broke, but this may be the next major thing i do :)

Balloons, eh? here are my rebuttles
1. Bagged rides handle great, driving preformance is kinda vauge as well as better traction, I have never had worse driving preformance or traction is a bagged vehicle.
2. so... coilovers magicly move weight? again, I have never had worse acceleration from running bags over a stock suspension.
3. Correctly, what makes one way correct and the other wrong. Both are adjustable, bags just make it easier.
4. now that is just funny, you do know air bags are not hydrolics, right? You know the trailblazer SS and Lincoln Mark VIII have airbags and lowers it's self once it reaches a certian speed to increase aerodynamics? I am sure there are other cases of this but I do know both of those vehicles do that for a fact.
so there guy:thumbsup: ... do your home work before you start bashing others on something you think you know about

I've seen some advertising here for some kind of hybrid coilovers with integrated airbag at the top, not sure if they make it for the Yaris, but are those any good?

4 Me
I need an airbag kit that adjust the ride hight (kinda fast) and good quality but not too expensive
I may go to Malaysia and Thailand for a vacation and I might ship my car too
so, what are the options and prices there Thomas???
