There has been much debate about which intake is better than the other? I rather make a thread where everybody can let their opinion on comparing the intakes like the AEM, or Fujita, or the trd, or the short ram. Maybe this thread can help someone out there. My first question is which one is better the AEM or Fujita?

elsteverino889 - welcome back

I have an AEM intake in my Yaris.

It's certainly not a super mod, but it helps the car through the midrange RPMs.

Looking closely at the designs of both the AEM and Fujita, I would say you cannot tell the difference between the two in terms of performance. The tubing of each intake is very similar, and the filter is situated in the lower area of the engine bay, well away from the hottest air circulating in the engine area.

Considering the filter of each intake (AEM, Fujita, TRD), there may be differences between the filters that affect the performance. But I don't know anything about the TRD and Fujita filters to make a proper comment.

dngz has a WR short ram intake, so maybe he can add a comment here about his experience with a short ram intake.

I have an automatic so that rules out the Fujita.
Too bad too, because I liked the placement of the filter and easy access. Would have been 30 mins faster in removal and cleaning vs. the AEM and TRD.
The location of those filters is out away from the engine down below the headlight.

But the benefit of that is the AEM and TRD is getting cooler air and at less risk of getting wet!
Don’t know if the TRD filter is small enough to fit through the hole that is left after the removal of the factory air box but the AEM is too big.
Front wheel and splash guards must come off.

The AEM is easy cleaning it is DRYFLOW Synthetic filter eliminates any warranty concerns is much easier to clean and since you don't have to oil after cleaning, and service time is cut by approximately 90%! Just soap it, rinse it, shake it dry and go!

I don’t know if the TRD is easy clean.
But I do see the TRD has the bypass installed just incase of water. However I don’t see how that will happen unless you try to cross a flooded road where you see people in a canoe having fun in the flood watered streets. Who knows how much air flow it restricts with it on there?

Anyways that’s my .02cents worth on my research b4 buying mine, the AEM cold air intake.

Thank you very much. I'm glad to be back even though i checked this site everyday after being gone but like I said happy to be back. Im in a tight decision here because I personally like the Fujita but I have an automatic but they may come out with a auto or somethin you never know if not I may go with the AEM.

I'd be very interested in which cold air intake keeps the MPG high while tweaking performance a little. Yeah, I want the best of both worlds, what can I say?

Stock, until you save the pennies for a supercharger kit (p.s. that comes with a "free" intake).

I tried to replace the intake on my 07 and each time I install it it stalls and dies. It will not run with it in place. By the way it is an AUTO too. Help!!

My mileage increased slightly with the AEM. Others probably do as well.

An intake is an intake- you won't notice a difference until you hit the 200hp mark, which you never will in this car.

My Civic with built B18 made 197hp/153tq to the wheels- my AEM CAI broke and I replaced it with a $25 APC intake for laughs- dynoed it a month later and did not lose one single unit of horsepower.

I've seen similar results on cars I've had.

The only time you'll see a difference is if you go from a cold air intake to a short ram, and even then the difference will be
negligible.

Want to see a real difference? Go out and buy some itb's. lol
