Would this work??

Let's say I like  the idea of the TPMS.

I want to have a set of winter tires mounted on their own set of rims.

So, I get a second TPMS ECU and have it programed to the winter tires and mount it next to the original ecu.

Then I could just unplug/plug in ecu's depending on which set of tires were used.

Since only one ecu would be active, there should not be any interference.

Yes, no?

ps, This is a great forum. I've learn tons about wheels, offsets, TPMS etc in 5 days. Thanks

That would work fine.

That seems really expensive, if CT says it'll work you can damn well bet it'll work though.

I never did bother putting the TPMS on either of my wheel sets.

I have one on my test bench that I picked up off ebay for $20, so if you shop around it is possible to pick up used ones for cheap.

Thanks CT.

While I have you on the line,

Other than find another Yaris in the junkyard and pulling the tpms's, how would I find out what other sending units would work with a Yaris ecu?

How about get another set of the tpms sensors for the second set of rims , once you program it to the ecu , it should be fine right ?

Or does it need to re program every time you swap the rims ?

For the tire pressure monitoring ECU, the part number is 89769-52030 (and it is Yaris specific).

For the sensors, the part number is: 42607-33011 and they are the same ones used in just about every Toyota model from 06 on.

As for Vten's question, the TPMS ECU can only be programmed with one set of four sensors, so to switch to a second set would require reprogramming.
