Evening All,

I am new to this site after purchasing a Yaris last February. It is a 1.3 TR 5 door, 2008 57 plate. Since buying this car I have had to have two new front tyres, new windscreen washers and a minor oil leak which was done under warranty and now this! It has only done 6000 miles since I bought it last year. Anyway, since this over the last couple of weeks I have noticed a light rattling noise, like a throaty noise particularly on acceleration and when going up hill as it increases speed. Also, when I stop in traffic and then accelerate again it starts rattling. It appears to be coming from the front of the car, i.e. engine! I haven't taken out the extended warranty so will obviously have to pay for this. Question is surely all this shouldn't happen after buying a fairly new car and in the space of a year, does anyone know what this rattling noise could be.

Any advice or opinions greatly appreciated..I have only been driving a couple of years so no expert!

Thanks x:thumbsup:

could be a heat shield that is tapping the engine bay. i had the problem in the rear of my car. one of the brackets or pins holding popped.

Above the brake/clutch fluid reservoir, there is a removable plastic cover (UK drivers side, at the rear of the engine bay) Pop this off and take the car for a run and see if it still does it. Ours did this and sounded like a bag of hammers. Lined it with self adhesive grey draught excluder and it sorted it out
