A while ago I purchased carbon fiber trim pieces for the B pillars.
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29422
They looked great when I first installed them, but after about 6 months they started to curl on the corners. Also, since the were real, very thin carbon fiber pieces they were ridiculously sharp on the edges, where I actually drew blood a couple of times while washing the car. So, I decided to remove them. The adhesive was supposed to be removable, but it turned out to really not be.
I tried heat and every adhesive remover out there to get the residue off of the OEM Vinyl pieces, but it wouldn't come off. So, I decided that the easiest way to rectify the situation would be to peel the OEM vinyl pieces and order a new set. After removing the vinyl pieces I stepped back and noticed that it actually looked pretty good without the black there, so I think I will go without them:

Yes. My front, rears and hatch are tinted with 37% tint.
Thanks
I am thinking about tinting my windows.. the problem is that due to some strange reasons tinting of front windows is prohibited.. was thinking about 25 for rears and 50 or 75 for fronts (not to cause lots of attentions from police)

The vinyl came off fairly easily with a heat gun. Zero residue remained.
I didn't like the look when I first pulled it, but it has grown on me.

Every state down here is different. For CT, 35% all around is legal. The 37% + the OEM 98% keeps things in the legal range.

I like that idea. I have been meaning to shoot my fog trim pieces with 8T0, so I might as well do the ol' triangles as well. I also have a spare front grill that I have been toying with the idea as well.

I am actually against this idea with triangles.. Yaris has a nice window line.. painting this black stuff will change the cars appearance to the worst (imo)
Due to the same reason I chose avs crappy quality sun visors to nicer quality weathertechs which have different shape.. weathertecks sort of divide the car in two parts

With the 4 door you are already losing the length of the door over the 2 door. Painting the triangles makes it look even more "scrunched". =/

It's a substantial black plastic trim piece, with plastic "tabs" (2) and a long L strip that slides into that bottom opening. GEEEZ.
I'm going to make a nice CF cover for it, now that it's off.

That adhesive was a bear to remove. Nothing that I tried solvent-wise worked. Heat and rubbing was the key (and painfully so).

i had that feeling :) didn't want to try anything like brake fluid that might dissolve the paint. at this point i'll be happy to at least save time using a heat gun to get the vinyl off. were you able to get the bottoms without taking the belt molding off? thanks.

Yes - I was able to get them off completely. They barely tuck under the edge of the belt molding.
