full range class D amps

Are the full range class D amps being made today comparable to the class AB amps to be used in a 4 speaker setup with no subwoofer. Is one more preferable to the other as far as sound quality all specs being equal.

in the low to medium price range d class amps are comparable to ab class in terms of SQ .. if you have a high end head unit (like denon dct1 or z1) you sure should go with smth of comparable quality

as an example alpine pdx are ok for an average setup

Specs wise the amp does not look bad.. (had no experience myself).. sort of the same level of head unit.

which specs are in play after install hu or amps specs. also if the hu and amp are approximately at the same level will one hear the difference in sound iow will the sound get better with the amp install or do you have to get an amp significantly better than the specs of the hu.

In a lot of cases, your quality of sound will depend greatly on the quality of your install. Induced RF noise is a big enemy.
